Does the royal commission have the power to force the Jws to change how abuse is handled?

I can see the WT throwing elders under the bus and blaming them for mishandling sexual child abuse cases, making it appear to the rant & file that the Organization didn't share blame. Sort of like a 1975-we-didn't-say-that situation. I think the vast majority will just go along and parrot the idea firmly convinced that the JW religion is God's organization but it's some imperfect men/elders who mishandled cases, and that now they know better and have been corrected.

The WT hierarchy is quite slippery and slimy knowing how to avoid blame.

i was a jw for well over 30 years.

i did much research before i had internet, i compared bibles and prayed deeply to help me to know if this was the truth.

Does a CEO of a fortune 500 company believe in their corporation? I think it's pretty much the same with the Gobbering Body of the JW religion. They force themselves to throw aside doubts and nagging thoughts from their minds that what they're preaching, what they're selling, is no better and sometimes worse than other competing organizations.

I think Rutherford was a megalomaniac, and a psychopathic narcissist, but I doubt the current GB would consider braking away from Rutherford's wacky doctrines. It would be nice if they could see the error and cultishness that is rampant in their religion, sort of what took place with the Worldwide Church of God (Armstrong). It takes integrity and conscience to make changes like that.

i've seen this photo before many times.

it's in jim pentons book, but i never noticed greenlees left hand is holding how's right at his bottocks.. quite the gay times at bethel i'd say.. .

Well said, S&R, and I agree with what you say. I oppose discrimination.

But, why should it be ok to poke fun at a heterosexual quirky person, like Lett is, with homosexually charged deeds? Why? When it is not ok to make jokes about homosexuals' behavior in Bethel.

Whatever the case this thread is taking on a serious tone, in contrast to Brokeback Watchtowe's posts full of homosexual humor at the expense of Lett.

Do you think saying Lett is involved in giving bl0wjobs the same as saying Greelees likes to pinch bums? Really?

i just heard this a few minutes ago by a jw friend who is still an elder in my old hall.

the kingdom hall i used to attend and my mom still attends was paid off many years ago and serves about 6 congregations.

one of the english congregations has a lot of financially well of members.

this topic or debate has arisen a few times so, i thought it would be prudent to make an honest evaluation upon that statement.. if one reflects back on the history of this organization one can see how the leaders of this organization enforced or instilled it rules of conduct and rules of avowed allegiance to the those specific leaders, keeping in mind how j rutherford's forceful tactic to take over the organization upon c t russell's death.. j rutherford, the past president of the wts and the one that created the name jehovah's' witnesses ruled over the (his) organization with a strong arm, anyone who questioned his personal behavior, not only his doctrinal teachings were given the boot or dfed as its commonly known .

on october 7, 1940, olin r. moyle, formerly of the jehovah's witness legal staff met with joseph rutherford and several members of the watch tower board of directors in court.

jehovah's witnesses destroyed notes about child sexual abuse to stop them falling into the wrong hands and to "protect their wives", a church elder has told a national hearing in sydney.. the opening day of a royal commission hearing into abuse within the controversial church has heard how more than 1000 cases of child abuse since 1950 were dealt with internally and never reported to police.. it has also heard that victims were made to confront their abusers and left feeling as if they had sinned.. max horley was an elder for the jehovah's witness congregation in narrogin, western australia, in the late 1980s when a woman, known as bcb, was interviewed about her relationship with another church elder, bill neill.. in evidence on monday, bcb told how neill, who is dead, groomed her from the age of 15. he would tongue kiss her and spy on her when she was in the shower at his home.. when the abuse was revealed, she was asked to attend meetings where on one occasion the abuser joked about what he had done.. .

When you pair this investigation up with the current WT push to baptise minors, the whole thing looks very nefarious.

The whole indoctrination of the young is a sick pattern used by WT higher-ups since the days of Rutherford. And the grooming of the young by older men pre-dates that with Russell fondling his not-really "adopted" waif while she sat on his lap as reported by Russell's own wife. In practice the WT leadership has perpetuated the use and abuse of minors for their own sick pleasure and profit.
