it seems like there has not been as much discussion here about the rc testimony on day 6 (4th august) as there has been about previous days.
i was quite surprised by rodney spinks' testimony, which was a marked contrast to the bungling and inarticulate testimony of the elders that appeared before him.
spinks seemed reasonably co-operative, and a lot more willing to concede points than anyone else has been.
Funny, I had a totally opposite reaction to Spinks. I thought he was combative with Mr. Stewart at times and had to be put in his place by the Judge. It was then that he cowered and sheepishly assented to what he was asked.
He gave false testimony concerning the freedom the Australian Branch has in making up guidelines and interpreting directives from New York. He was clearly trying to shelter the GB from too much involvement.
But then he ended up throwing the GB under the bus by saying with a smile there are more experienced members of the Branch than the members of the GB regarding policy and procedures. Any r&f JW would on hearing that would go "Say whuh?" on that revelation.
So I guess that according to Spinks, Branch experience takes precedence over God's Spiritual Direction upon the Faithful and "Discrete" Slave.
watching the royal commission videos from day 6.. the head of the australian branch is such a liar.
he keeps saying they have the right to make decisions and regulations if they are in accordance with the scriptures, but we all know this is such a lie!!!!.
he is just trying to protect the gb members from bring forced to testify!!
@Oubliette
What paradisebeauty is saying is that Spinks said before the Royal Commission that the Australian Branch can make make decisions and regulations if they are in accordance with the scriptures apart from Bethel and the Gobbering Body.
The Branch doesn't have any right to develop doctrine nor guidelines apart from Brooklyn headquarters. Spinks is using "theocratic warfare" strategy to separate the Branch from the GB in the eyes of the Royal Commission.
There is no way that Bethel would go along with the Australian Branch making decisions independently of their oversight. The man is lying and hiding the real relationship with the JW hierarchy.
To any reasonable person, it is clear that WT "policies, practices and procedures" are woefully lacking in righteousness. They protect pedophiles and needlessly cause additional pain and suffering to their victims.
You're quite right in saying that. And I feel the ultimate responsibility for their error lies with the GB and their helpers who lay out doctrine and guidelines for all JW's to follow uniformly worldwide. They demand the "obedience" they should also obtain the judgement for teaching and demanding others go along with their wrong practices. I think you'll fully agree with this.
i just sent this email to angus stewart:.
i hope this email finds you well.
i would like to say thank you for your work on the royal commission, particularly in your handling of the jehovah's witnesses elders and experts during questioning.
I just got back an email response from Angus Stewart as well.
I am pleasantly surprised and overjoyed that he is so on the ball.
His dedication and ability is truly admirable.
Angus is the proverbial bomb! And he's taring up the lying, misguiding and conniving WT reps!
Isn't there WT instructions that say a deleted paedo-brother can repent and after x amount of years, can again serve as an elder?
Yes, he clearly said something contrary to published guidelines for elders. He's using "theocratic warfare" strategy. Being a Branch rep he certainly should know he is telling an untruth.
Spinks just said that there are Jehovah's Witnesses, even women JW's, who are police officers! Say whuh?
The quip about the Australian Branch having more experience than some of the Gobbering Body members and being able to make up their minds on what procedures should be followed is a definite put down of the GB and would make a great video clip!
Take that Geoffrey Jackson! I wish you'd been able to address how Mr. Spinks' just threw the GB under the bus and positioned the Branch above the GB and also negated the Branch's need to be in absolute compliance with all directives from the GB.
