"quite a lot hinges on a key word "evidently""
Note To Faithful And Discreet Slave: Please provide said "evidence" to rebuff apostates.
i haven't followed the generation change in the doctrine that closely, just read a few snippets of the overlapping generations doctrine.
i find this hard to believe even for the pathological liars the governing body.. has anyone seen the 4/15/2010 watchtower with their own eyes?.
can anyone validate that the wtbts really is saying this overlapping generation idea the way it is being quoted on the internet in a few places?

Yepper! That's a big roger, cowboy. Cut & pasted from the PDF itself:
13
Third, holy spirit is at work in bringing
Bible truths to light. (Prov. 4:18) Thismagazine
has long been used by “the faithful and
discreet slave” as the primary channel for
dispensing increased light. (Matt. 24:45) For
example, consider our understanding of
those who make up “this generation” mentioned
by Jesus. (
Read Matthew 24:32-34.
)
To what generation did Jesus refer? The article
“Christ’s Presence—What Does It Mean
to You?” explained that Jesus was referring,
not to the wicked, but to his disciples, who
were soon to be anointed with holy spirit.
Jesus’ anointed followers, both in the first
century and in our day, would be the ones
who would not only see the sign but also
discern its meaning—that Jesus “is near at
the doors."
You CAN'T make this shit up! ;)

Opening the PDF as we speak...
i always found it very patronising, particulay as most of the jw's who did that treated me very badly and not like a sister at all!.
i also hated when brothers would say " i've met a lovely sister and i'm planning to marry her!
" sounds so incestuous!
PEC,
My point is, according to the WT, we do come from Adam & Eve. So by that reasoning, we're all bros/sis. The human family - you know what I mean.
in the april 15 2010 watchtower, this quote stuck out to me like a sore thumb.. "this magazine has .
long been used by "the faithful and discreet slave" .
as the primary channel for dispensing increased .
"they were the only group that was ready to make changes in their beliefs when old teachings are proven false."
Then why don't they drop blood, shunning, 1914, stake vs. cross, etc. which have been thoroughly, rigorously, and repeatedly debunked by virtually everyone outside of the organization?

yadda, the problem is, the other 90% AIN'T garnish - and you know it. That other 90% - the WT never lets us forget - is MANDATORY. "Keeping up with Jehovah's Chariot", you know.
hello all, i had some questions regarding the booklet 'should you believe in the trinity?
' i should mention that i'm a catholic and my brother is a jw baptised some 15-20 years ago.
since he found 'the truth' he had been quite vocal regarding the manyu, many false teachings of the catholic church.
Bigger Fry to Fish...
Heh heh...
Sounds like a quote from Futurama!
do you ever post without quoting the bible?
why do you feel a compulsive need to quote scriptures in all your posts?
were you once a bible-thumping jw or are you just a born-again bible thumper who never was a jw and just happens to dislike jws?.
Yadda,
Your view of all orthodoxy as "disgusting" makes YOU sound holier-than-thou like a certain group that shall remain nameless. No offense.
"Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up."
WT's using that scripture to discourage scholarship is, forgive my unchristian lingo, BULLSHIT! This is a religion that is constantly throwing the term "accurate knowledge" in your face! "This is the TRUTH! Why? Because we have ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE! How are we saved? Through ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE! Why must we do Personal Study and Meeting Attendance? ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE!" Of course, when they say "ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE", they really mean Watchtower Dogma as learned through constant study of Watchtower Publications and only Watchtower Publications.
Aargh...
i composed the file at.
http://www.jwstudies.com/christ_is_coming_very_soon.pdf.
in response to a jehovahs witnesss comment that people had looked forward to 1914.. .
You know, it's funny that the WT claims to be free from the taint of "Christendom" when Russell borrowed much, if not most, of his doctrine from other proponents of "Christendom".

yadda yadda - whoa man, take it easy, it's a matter of faith. Don't fall into the JW trap of calling things "true" or "false" when there's no way in hell to prove either POV.
Personally, I believe there are strong arguments both pro and con. I think the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (or Father, Mother, and Child, or whichever variant you prefer) are in unity, certainly, so I guess they could be considered "triune", but the Trinity in the classical sense (which I can't really seem to pin down a definite definition for anyway) seems to be stretching it a bit. The important thing is not to declare sincere Christians as either "true" or "false" depending on their feelings about the Trinity. Both JWs and mainliners are guilty of this offense.
