JWs and the Arts: The Muse Executed at Armageddon?
by truman inthe recent thread about some jw's reaction to the movie avatar made me flash back to some of my own misgivings when i was a jw about the wts's relationship to the arts.. .
jws are always ready to denounce any work of the human imagination that hints at ideas outside their narrow dogma.
movies whose titles have hindu etymology and which feature alien blue pagans are only the most recent.

Explain My Weird Dream---The Watchtower Was Using The Word "Minimusize"
by minimus ini remember seeing the wt.
magazine's frequent use of the word "minimusize" in a positive light.
and there was the sound and smell of ground coffee that was in the background.

I had a weird dream too last night.
It was in a sort of lab with machinery and computers. There was a sample of blood. A laser of some kind extracted something from the blood (DNA I'm guessing) and turned it into a wavelength. It then proceeded to beam this information onto something that looked like a hard drive, which was then downsized into what looked like an SD card.
My immediate response was, "Oh my God, it's a personality chip!"
Whattya think? The WT gonna be chippin' us soon?

The irony is that teachings similar to Russell's, i.e. pyramidology, geo-mysticism, gospel-in-the-stars type stuff have come back in vogue among many mainline-ish Christians. Of course, as you said, most of his theology was borrowed. Nothing new under the sun...

The WT LIE re "Sign" of the "Generation"
by AGuest into the household of god, israel, and all those who go with... may you have peace!.
the following excerpt was posted from paragraph 14 of the wtbts article, "the holy spirits role in the outworking of jehovahs purpose":.
14 what does this explanation mean to us?

"I realized they were not worthy of my trust"
Hey, show some respect, you. They're worthy of our trust because Jehovah and Jesus trust them. I know because they said so themselves. Plus they insist on our trust. That makes them trustworthy. Also the fact that they constantly remind us that they're trustworthy.

JW's view of apostates who die while "out"
by highdose ini wittnessed in my time several woe filled jw's apon hearing that one of their former members had died while out or the "turth".
the typical reaction was " we can only pray to jehovah that their heart condition was right at the end".
wtf!

"he was a paronoid schizophrenic and would cast out demons in the name of Jehovah."
No doubt. Any rational person knows you cast out demons in the name of Jesus Christ.
As for your question, in the resurrection "neither do they marry nor are they given in marriage. They are as angels in the heavens."

I remember my mom telling me once about a sister who lost her daughter in a car accident (i think) and who was doubly distraught because she "didn't know if she'd be resurrected" since she happened to be disfellowshipped at the time she died.
Disgusting.

It wouldn't be a Reject Jesus Party for YOU if you sincerely partook of the emblems...

"...they're buying in on the Watchtower's "rule" that apostates are out-of-control wicked people."
THIS is what as known as a "self-fulfilling prophecy".
