by snare&racket inhey all,.
i'm day six of isolation, confirmed to have coronavirus.
i have been seeing very sick cv positive patients over the last month in my a&e role (emergency physician) it was inevitable i would contract it.. just wanted to give some symptom and treatment advice, it's anecdotal but may help.. started as sore throat and headache, then croaky voice, then dry cough, then episodic transient fevers, all this over the first few days.

And that's great, Rogue. Small victory there, until you break down the actual conversation. You're using JW speak (the truth) when you talk to her. I get what you're doing, but you're not helping the situation in the long term. Instead of saying 'the truth', try 'the religion' or 'the corporation' and see how that goes. Cognitive dissonance manifests itself in many different ways and you may be suffering from it somewhat. Be true to YOU and what YOU believe and want for YOU. Otherwise, you'll always be on this treadmill and nobody wants that for you or anyone.

It's so hard to see situations like this. I absolutely understand the family and social pull and breaking away from all of that is the most difficult scenario to be a part of. I've seen people who have just blown everything up and walked away, some who have tried to quietly walk away and ultimately been blown apart and those who are still trying to 'fade' and feel forced into living a lie every day of their lives. Outlaw is absolutely right, every choice has its consequences and all of them mean that you won't have the same relationship with the people you're allowing to control you at this moment. Short term pain is worth more than long term deceit and the toll that takes on everyone, including you. (my two cents)

Interesting Time magazine article about this subject
http://time.com/3939143/nows-the-time-to-end-tax-exemptions-for-religious-institutions/I could be wrong about this, but my understanding is that organizations who classified themselves as religions were exempt from taxes to uphold the church/state notion - you stay out of our business and we'll stay out of yours. The problem is that religion isn't staying out of government business and constantly lobbying to change or influence laws based on religious belief. This sucks (or blows, depending on your perspective) and a change is very much needed.

9/11 tops everything - every emotion from that day is burned in my brain.
The Red Sox winning the WS in 2004 was arguably the most joyfully unadulterated time of sports awesomeness I've experienced or ever will experience.
Princess Diana's funeral in 1997.
Michael Jackson's first moonwalk in 1983.
The Berlin Wall coming down in 1989.
Star Wars in 1977 - I was really young but I still remember not being able to pull my jaw up from the floor. (very excited for TFA!)

On respect for the belief of others. Sorry for the long post
by StarTrekAngel ini am inclined to start this thread in response to some comments made in other threads.
i have been coming around these forum for quite some time now so whatever you find in here is not just related to something someone may have said this week.
it can go months back as well.. i have seen many who claim to respect the belief of others but when it comes down to applying it into practice, things take a whole different tune.

What a person 'believes' is not sacrosanct. It's subject to change at the drop of a hat based on circumstance, experience, change in doctrine from their religious higher ups, or just a gradual realization that the belief doesn't hold water. People are in a rage nowadays to avoid 'offending' anyone, which is absolutely ridiculous. The very notion of offence is extremely subjective. If I say that it offends me to know that there are people out there right now indoctrinating their children in any religious belief, many would find that offensive which leads to the uncomfortable notion of being offended at someone else's offence. Calling out a belief as incorrect is an act of caring - if we didn't care, we wouldn't bother to speak up.
