How the house of cards comes crashing down, in the WTS' own words.
by poopsiecakes in"rejecting or trivializing the genesis account about adam and eve creates a domino effect that undermines nearly every major teaching in the bible!
such a way of thinking leads to a host of unanswered questions and a faith with nothing to stand on.".
footnote: "these include teachings about gods sovereignty, human integrity, good and evil, free will, the condition of the dead, marriage, the promised messiah, a paradise earth, gods kingdom, and many others.".

oh dog!! Don't you know that this is proof positive that it really happened?
jwfacts, this penchant they have for attributing unsubstantiated thoughts to entire groups of people or quoting someone without using their name or the publication they're quoting from was a major pet peeve of a sister I knew years ago. I used to just brush off her irritation and didn't really think it through. Now, I see what she meant and it's become a pet peeve of mine too...what other publishing group can get away with that??

LOL Steve
Palmykins - I know...if they actually read their stuff as if they had never heard of it before, they'd probably (at some point) realize how utterly loony they sound.

ooh ooh I found another one...
History shows that rivalry and prejudice have long stood in the way of any hope for unity, and religion has often done much to fan the flames of conflict rather than extinguish them. “Anything that divides people can spawn hostility, and religion is one of the strongest dividers,” writes journalist James A. Haught. “Despite the universal belief that religion makes people ‘good,’ it’s obvious that it makes some people commit heinous acts.” Author Steven Weinberg holds a similar view. “For good people to do evil,” he writes, “that takes religion.”

What about shunning? What about cutting people off socially and financially when they just want to live their lives without following the JW religion? What about descending all gestapo like to a sick person's hospital bedside to make sure they don't accept a blood transfusion and standing guard? What about printing in their literature that if you don't attend all the meetings at the KH, your shirt will get caught in the door at Armageddon and you may not make it through? I can't believe they quoted Weinberg on this...talk about slipping down an ugly slope...

How the fuck can there be a tribluation GREATER than one that killed EVERYTHING on the WHOLE GODDAMN PLANET except for 8 people and what they could fit in a boat?
It's like admitting what they don't want to admit - that Armageddon will mean the death of 6 billion people. That piddly little Noah flood didn't solve or prove anything really, just that there are no qualms in God's eyes when it comes to wiping out 99% of the population in one fell swoop.
Actually, when I think about it - why didn't God just restore the paradise after the flood? His decision to kill everything was because clearly, mankind wasn't capable of governing themselves and needed a spanking. Wasn't this the point of the whole Eden debacle?
oh and hey EP!

When I read threads like this I wonder how many of those still in know it is B.S. and only stay in for the sake of their older relatives.
I definitely think there's an element of that in the organization, but I think it's relatively rare unfortunately. Most people lap up what's in the WT without ever questioning anything. After all, this information comes directly from God through the GB don't ya know. As soon as questions start niggling in the brain, they're quashed out by cognitive dissonance. The others show up here on JWN *giggle*. I know that I'm generalizing, and I'm sure that each congregation has a few who know it's BS and stay for their own reasons, but that still leaves the vast majority of JW's as the unfortunate followers of twisted logic - and LOVING it.

I wonder how many have left the Watchtower and turned atheists due to the these twisted logic and doctrines?
It's kinda hard not to, Vanyell.
And welcome to the board!

OH yes, maninthemiddle, here's the PROOF that Noah's flood happened and was global:
"If Noah was a mythical figure and a global flood a fable, the warnings of Peter and Jesus for those living in the last days would be meaningless. Instead of serving as a warning, such ideas would befuddle a person’s spiritual senses and endanger his chances of surviving a tribulation greater than the Noachian Flood."

They've never written anything more true than those statements....
No kidding, sir82 - I couldn't believe my eyes when I stumbled on it!!
*pokes undercover*
I actually went to their 'official' website out of curiosity (inspired by another thread) to see if the Reasoning Book is among their online publications...it's not, btw which is no surprise. Finding this little gem made the visit worthwhile though! Glad you enjoyed it - and thanks for adding to the quotes.Anyone who can find other quotes where they hoist themselves on their own petard are welcome.
