Poopsie, wouldn't a loving god give a ground crawling snake a way to protect itself?
The point I was making to bioflex was in response to his comment (the old WT chestnut) that all animals were intentionally created to be herbivores.
..specifically, the suffering of animals.
you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.
i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

What is the point of poison if it cant hurt you?
That's your response to why a loving god created the deadly effects of snake venom?

oooh OOH bioflex!! Tell me again how the polar bears, penguins, platypus, three-toed sloth and all the species of beetles and termites made their way to Noah's ark. It's my favorite story EVER!!

Isnt is beautiful? i mean how wonderful all the animals exhibit various fasciating characteristics, and yet all this is nullified by the evil effects that could come out of it.
You conveniently avoided the snake venom issue. But that's ok. Wanna talk about jellyfish stingers?
Let me ask you, do you think animals feel/reason the same way as humans do?
The same way? No. They operate mostly on instinct.

Well Cofty, I doubt anyone will penetrate the mind shield that bioflex has built for himself. But hey, it's worth a shot right?

Man and animals alike were not created carnivorous from the beginning, they were made to be herbivous from the start.
I canNOT believe I ever agreed with this statement - cognitive dissonance at its best. Ever heard of snake venom? And the many different kinds of snake venom? Was this created by a loving god to neutralize the feisty apples in the trees? How about camouflage? Why did a loving god create animals with perfect camouflage? So that they could hide really well before pouncing to give a big hug? How about the venus flytrap? Was this created by a loving god to catch bubbles?
Seriously bioflex, you really need to read more - or subscribe to Animal Planet. Or something, because your ignorance is embarrassing. The natural world is filled with natural suffering. It's life.
poopsiecakes started it. Why don't you yell at her?
I do love you, darlin!
Shhhh Nic - if that prayer isn't answered for some people it's because they aren't patient enough. And if they die of starvation while waiting it's all good - it just means god needed another angel.
Great point, Amelia
lilbluekitty, with all due respect, what you said is a cop out that's been used for centuries. No matter what, if you believe and want to continue believing you have to tell yourself exactly what you stated because the second you really start thinking it all tumbles down like a house of cards.
i now find it idiotic that i could ever beleive the bible to be the inspired word of god.....,throughout the bible "god"has only dealt with a few of his favoured spokespersons to deliver his messages to a minority populace.individuals at first,..... then, patriarchs, nomads,a small nation, ignoring all other nations that had sprung up.......,abandoning his chosen nation, sending his "son"to a small nation, only giving them his pearls of wisdom, much of what was not even recorded for prosperity and remember he never wrote a word,it was left up to other imperfect humans to record what he was supposed to have said, just a smidgen......,again ignoring the bulk of humankind keeping them in ignorance of his plan for universal salvation, leaving it all up to imperfect humans to spread this message of salvation, whom he has already condemned for their sinfullness and disobedience.i just find it so unbeleivable.
in the 6000 years of recorded history only a fraction of the earths population, maybe less than a third have ever heard of the god of the bible, or his so called plan to redeem humankind ,thats millions and millions of people.
( india,arabic,afghanistan,pakistan etc.etc.).
In my opinion if what you say is true then all Science would be failure.
Can you name one branch of science that is dependent on faith of any kind? Faith has nothing whatsoever to do with science and here again we have an example of putting unreason on top of reason and logic. Science depends on fact. Based on that fact a hypothesis is formulated, then tested. There is no faith involved.
