  Does anyone have copies of the WT tax exempt paperwork?

  the wt/jw has a presence in my town.

  tax exempt status.

  from what i understand the wt/jw is a for profit group that is taking advantage of the community as a whole.

  I could be wrong about this, but my understanding is that organizations who classified themselves as religions were exempt from taxes to uphold the church/state notion - you stay out of our business and we'll stay out of yours. The problem is that religion isn't staying out of government business and constantly lobbying to change or influence laws based on religious belief. This sucks (or blows, depending on your perspective) and a change is very much needed.

  i am inclined to start this thread in response to some comments made in other threads.

  i have been coming around these forum for quite some time now so whatever you find in here is not just related to something someone may have said this week.

  it can go months back as well.. i have seen many who claim to respect the belief of others but when it comes down to applying it into practice, things take a whole different tune.

  What a person 'believes' is not sacrosanct. It's subject to change at the drop of a hat based on circumstance, experience, change in doctrine from their religious higher ups, or just a gradual realization that the belief doesn't hold water. People are in a rage nowadays to avoid 'offending' anyone, which is absolutely ridiculous. The very notion of offence is extremely subjective. If I say that it offends me to know that there are people out there right now indoctrinating their children in any religious belief, many would find that offensive which leads to the uncomfortable notion of being offended at someone else's offence. Calling out a belief as incorrect is an act of caring - if we didn't care, we wouldn't bother to speak up.

  isn't it ironic - the one day of the year you can pretty much guarantee that most people are not only home but anticipating people people calling at their door ... and jehovah's witnesses don't go out that day.. heck, if the householder isn't receptive they even have the get-out option of claiming it was a joke and they dressed up as jehovah's witnesses for halloween!

  :d. of course we know the aim of the ministry for most is to avoid talking to people.

  that's why they do it during the day midweek or on sat morning or sun afternoon when people are most likely out..

  In my opinion (which isn't worth much hahaha) once someone in a position of power - like a President or Prime Minister of a developed country - has the balls to start looking at taxing religious organizations and actually doing it, there will be a cascade effect that will reduce the WT to a squishy rubble. Right now, the federal tax agencies in various countries don't want to poke at the 'prove you're being charitable' pinata, but eventually it'll happen. Fringe religions like the WT who use roughly zero dollars for anything remotely charitable will be the first to feel it.
