The holocaust was not a hoax millions died and to deny it happened is lunacy.

Merry christmas to you too and a happy new year. It's never too early to extend good wishes to others my son told everyone in the supermarket Merry christmas when they put the decorations up in November. They were all a bit startled but he didn't care.

The way I would approach it is in the post Xmas sales look out for tree baubles that have been reduced. don't go for the plain ones choose those that look expensive but are reasonably priced. If you are a bit arty find the cheap ones and do a bit of decorating make them special. Either the name of a person if you know they will give you a gift or a christmas message for surprise gifts. Then next year you can give people tree baubles. No one knows how much they cost espeacially if customised and no one can ever have too many.
If you are really stuck I can customise baubles and make hand made tree decorations to order and send them in a box easy to wrap so feel free to PM me. Spent the whole of last 3 weeks making snow globes and hiding them round the house.
Alternatively buy small and medium sized chocolate reindeer or Santas for office workers and on the last day before Xmas leave them on their desk with a little note saying thank you for all your help this year. This goes down particularly well with female colleagues and requires no wrapping.
There is a certain amount of tit for tat giving, however as each year goes on those that gave in the hopes of receiving will not give again if their present is not reciprocated. Therefore do not feel pressured into giving to everyone. Decide who you want to give to and stick with it.
Save special gifts for those closest to you. It is unecessary to go overboard in these economic times people do not expect presents from all and sundry.
Final word on wrapping, rectangular shapes are much easier to wrap than irregular ones so if you can find a gift box to put odd shaped gifts in it does help. Make it as easy for yourself as possible.
Hubby hasn't a clue about Xmas and has never done it, usually have to wrap my own Anniversary present from him.
Hope this helps

How's your decade been?
by jookbeard infor me positives;.
getting married again.
having a lovely baby daughter.

A lot of positives children born, Started degree changed career direction. Negatives it's all a matter of perspective, nothing so bad I couldn't overcome it. The quote "that which doesn't break you makes you stronger" has proved true.
Hubby gone from active JW and MS to Elder to fader so all good except the elder phase. I woke up to politics in the organisation and was appalled when someone wanted hubbys privilege so badly he went to CO and told him we were a bad example. CO came to lunch and afterwards recommended brother didn't get any major privileges as he obviously had a few problems of his own. At the time it was horrid and embarrasing now I couldn't care less I see them for what they are .
Looking forward to next decade now we have so much to look forward to and have discovered some really nice people on line.

Off of Portugal Stree is the old curiosity shop. There is also Sir John Soames Museum which is a house stuffed full of artifacts from the Grand Tour.
There is also the Museum of the Moving Image near Waterloo.
To see an old style department store try Fortnum and Mason in Picadilly really posh. Royal Academy of Art is there as well you can check on line to see what the current exhibition is. Along Picadilly are loads of undercover arcades with old fahioned shops which are interesting even if you don't see anything you want to buy.
Advice is occasionally look up above the shop fronts it's amazing what you see when you take the time.
Watch out for pickpockets in the main tourist areas they work in teams and are very effective. Don't use backpacks to carry valuables they are an open invitation.
Have a great trip.

What I found so fascinating was the family groups and the young age of many on the list. I think the youngest was born in 1930. He took a big risk. He may not have been perfect but he had courage and compassion and did what he could. Sobering reading.

Great to see the comments always look out for them as they are so thought provoking.
The paragraph about obeying the elders made me cross it seemed to imply that regardless of what they do we should obey them and overlook their faults. Disgraceful. So if an elder had harmed us physically, emotionally or financially we just say no problem. If roles are reversed they can't wait to weild their authority. There was no implication in the paragraph that they should regulate their own conduct or behaviour at all.
Loved the post look forward to the next one.

Favoritism within the WT
by garyneal inthough my wife does not really see it and i myself am only beginning to actually see it, it appears that there is a lot of 'favoritism' going on in the wts.
now maybe i should not judge especially since, in my case, i do not have all of the facts.. therefore, i will just let this passage of scripture stand on its own and allow people to comment on what they see as favoritism within the society.. .

Yes there is, at our hall 2 elders dominate everything and shield their families from consequences of any wrong action. I check the board now since most meetings contain assignments from one or both of them. It is their voice at every meeting, their families doing demonstrations, prayers and privileges.
I think if everyone walked out and left them to it they would be perfectly happy.

When my husband was in full elder mode it was torturous. Later I discovered that part of his strict attitude was due to the fact that other elders had to see him being the perfect brother and having the perfectly behaved wife and kids. If meeting attendance was poor, service not up to scratch or behaviour not perfect then he would be censured. It was all about being seen to be right regardless of what was going on in our lives or how tough times were.
I remember him yelling at me in the car on the way to an assembly because I had washed my hair and not dried it as I had been getting the kids ready. I was apparently showing him up. Now he would be embarrassed but then it was all about appearances. At school the next week when they were talking about feelings my son revealed to the class how Daddy made Mummy cry. Made my husband look like a right heal.
Now things are much calmer no discipline at meetings if we go and no pressure to conform. The cult personality has been shaken off but it was hell to live with for a while.

Lorraine, thank you so much for the added insight into your efforts to inform and enlighten others. I tried to listen to the JC recordings from the earlier post. I say tried because 20 minutes in I was so frustrated with the double speak and Uriah Heap insincerity I had to stop and pour myself a stiff drink. I will go back to it again once I have a clear head and a good noghts sleep.
It is a shame that someone who has had to put up with so much should still be going through the mill. Hopefully the new year will bring a better fortune to you all. Wishing you all the best.
