Being on the startled receiving end of some of these things it was a revelation to me. Politics nepotism and in fighting who would believe spirit appointed men could behave like this. Of course they are not they merely reflect what happens at GB level.

Why Would Someone Like me Leave the "Truth"? Part 4
by cantleave inreason number 3 should this happen in gods chosen organisation?.
my previous 3 posts dealing with this subject have discussed some incidents that played an important part in my waking up to the fact that i was part of a high control cult ,called by its members the truth.
these events were not entirely responsible for my exit, but they added to a portfolio of doubts that i had subconsciously filed away in the wait on jehovah drawer.

Planted a seed today... Update on de-program of my 16 year old son
by Aussie Oz inwell, some of you know that i have a 16 year old son who lives with his jw mother.
she has already mastered the art of guilt control on him.
i am most anxious that he not get baptized at all or at least unless he has really understood the whole truth, not just the watchtower truth.

At least your son is a normal red blooded 16 year old. He doesn't seem to be riddled with guilt over non conforming thoughts so there is hope for him yet. Slow and steady is a good approach. Too much info and his eyes will glaze over. If you have a JW folder you suspect he is accessing start putting things in it that will be of interest to him. If he thinks he's found it for himself it will have more impact. Give the folders titles he can't resist to encourage him to open them.
It's nice to see you are winning some ground.

Letter to all congregations in Canada 2010
by bobld inpledge forms will be issued to all brothers & sisters requesting for donations for k.h.,assembly halls, reno of k.h.etc.they did give some poor excuse as why this was necessary.my guess is that the brothers who made interest free loans to the wbts are asking for these loans back because of all the layoffs and the down turn in the economy.. bob.

I' sorry but haven't the society made a killing on real estate lately. Weren't the early congregations told to share out the surplus among the needy. I'd be inclined to submit what was needed as a request to the society asking them to practice sharing for a change. They've had the benefits of property, shares in arms companies, bequests from people who never had children the list is endless. If they are a charity stop hording and start spending.

Did You Exit the Witnesses Due to Injustices / Difference with Doctrine-Both?
by flipper inmany of us leave due to injustices committed inside the organization.
i did initially.
i had doubts about some doctrines for years - but not until after leaving the witnesses was i free to be able to confirm my suspicions and see that yes, i did have valid reasons to have doubts all those years .

I suspect that for many like me it is a combination of things.
Although a witness for many years I held my own personal set of beliefs that I never discussed with anyone. I didn't believe the flood was a worldwide flood, I didn't thing homosexuality was necessarily learned behaviour, I didn't think men had only been around for 7,000 years or that God was going to destroy billions of people worldwide. I thought that this was ok but realised since my husband was an elder that I shouldn't share these thoughts with others. I subsequently discovered that it wasn't ok to hold private views that differed from the WTBTS.
It was only when I started to experience the constant barrage of criticism from the BOE when someone wanted the appointment my husband had that I stopped seeing Elders as caring and started to look at the organisation anew. I had been bullied at work and started recognising the same methods within the congregation.
When my husband had doubts and started sharing some of his research it still took a while to put the pieces together but when I compared the origins of the Mormon faith with JWs and read COC I stopped making allowances for those in authority and started to feel firstly dissappointed in them then angry. At that point I decided that my children needed freedom and a chance to build their life away from control and guilt.

Holy Spirit gets fooled?
by In inwell, i honestly don't think holy spirit would be fooled, but man certainly can be.
and it looks mighty bad for holy spirit when a man claiming to have it makes a crappy decision.. just for the record, i am still in, thus the name.
i have noticed questions really upset the "friends".

The organisation is a book publishing company so as a result it is no more spiritual than any other business. The sad thing is that people think that god takes a special interest in the running of this particular business but the truth is he cannot. We know that in scripture we are told that God hates liars so an organisation predicated on a lie can not have either gods approval or direction.
What we see in congregations is politics and nepotism. People are appointed when they appear to be conditioned enough not to rock the boat not because they have divine approval.

Opened a Watchtower Today!
by treadnh2o init's been a few years, i had some time to spare and it was there.
not considering the actual message, here is what hit me, hard:.
the font is larger than that used by any secular publication that one would consider intellectual.. the language is so basic that it would bore the educated but would be embraced by those who were "simple" or perhaps mentally challenged.it alsowould not promote thinking as their was so little substance.. i then checked an awake and it is much the same.

There is a lack of depth in the public magazines. The articles are bland and lacking substance. I wonder how many people actually read the articles these days even including the r&f. They have become more religious in tone even the Awake which means there is little of real interest in the articles as they generally follow the same format. They drive me mad.

Haven't ever come across this in any of the congregations in our area. Anyone who suffers from an allergic reaction certainly deserves sympathy. I have seen someone go into true anaphaliactic shock and believe me it is truly scary. People often label things as allergies when in reality they are sensitive to or intolerant to something which is much less serious. I can't see how anyone sitting in a room at the back of the hall would receive any protection at all to air borne particles. Espeacially since most quick build halls lack windows so all air is circulated through the air conditioning system.
