  So finally jws work our road

  it has been years since i have seen any jws in this road but this morning when i returned home after buying a birthday gift i spotted two women walking slowly doing the door to door work.. i lamented the fact that they did not call here, my son informed me they had visited the neighbours but had missed us out.

  hubby was in the kitchen and had missed them otherwise he would have gone outside and confronted them.

  just as i was feeling we had missed an opportunity my neighbour called me to let me know the witnesses were about.

  being dressed is always good. Mind you they haven't worked here for years so getting dressed for 1 day when they may choose to come bearing in mind they go through the road like a dose of salts means that the probability of everything coming together for 1 event is quite slim. Being able to slob around in a state of undress on a Saturday morning is one of life's pleasures.

  When you watch the ministry from the outside you marvel how anyone could describe it as life saving. They stand on a doorstep waiting for someone to answer and then move to the next doorstep like a pair of ill judged garden ornaments. There is little zeal or enthusiasn just going through the process.

  You are probably right. They had one little boy with them and I felt so sorry for him. The field service is not suitable for children they have no place going door to door. Mind you they were done and dusted before 11:00 so we all got a thorough witness.

Just as I was feeling we had missed an opportunity my neighbour called me to let me know the witnesses were about. She said. "when I answered the door I asked them if they were jws. They said yes. So I said I have friends across the road who left the jws and they were treated appallingly. I have nothing to discuss with you. Good day."

  Good for her she made my day this lady is a force to be reckoned with.

  A sad premonition based on facts and trends.

  the society is going to squeak by on 1914. in 2014, many who even adhere to the 1914 millions living prophecy will be shaken, many of those even leaving.

  but the society isn't actively printing reminders about the 1914 millions living prophecy.. many of you who were/are witnesses know better than anyone that unless it's brought to their attention in 2013, they won't even notice the slip-up.

  of course, there is the leeway given of up-to 2034 for this to be a bust.

  talking to a witness recently I was surprised that she was very comfortable with the idea of the overlapping generation. She said that the overlapping generation refers to my parents generation not to anyone who had ever known someone alive in 1914. This means the elderly are excited that they are the generation the will not pass away and the younger ones feel the time is relatively close. The society has bought themselves 30 to 40 years so 1914 becomes less relevant and 2014 can pass without any anxiety or disquiet. So many young people are ignorant of the past beliefs and changes in the society so they will accept what they are told.

  However younger witness fall into 2 camps followers and seekers. Followers will step onto the treadmill and will follow the societies advice regarding the internet and they will simply be absorbed into the organisation. Seekers however have the goldmine of the internet to draw on and they can quickly find the flaws in their belief system. A process that may once have taken years can be condensed into a few months or weeks. This is the major difference with all the support groups and forums out there people can get support whilst they extract themselves much more efficiently.

  There will be a tipping point when the society starts to shrink but how long this will take is a mystery. They may end up with core of believers that will never change and those controlled because of fear of loosing loved ones.

  20 years in the organisation and they think they know it all when in fact they don't. This is not about fame and glory and pride. To suggest such a thing comes from the mouth of the society and not from a reasoning mind. This person has not lived through the 60s 70s or 80s. This person knows only what they are told and wants to reject anything that challenges them.

  This person does not realise that truth is an uncompromising standard for a faith and no failure of individual or doctrine is acceptable. You don't need to excuse men and doctrine when people speak truth and only that. If you excuse men's imperfections what makes them any different from any other faith?

  I am sorry you were personally attacked by their comments, they were unjustified.

  recently, i showed a great deal of vulnerability by posting that severe pain had popped out again and my morphine pump needs some tinkering.

  it seems i am attacked with some frequency for posting here but other frequent posters are not.

  rather than discuss the merits of a subject, some people engage in personal attack.

  I agree that debate should relate to the arguments presented and not to individuals. Pain is not funny and back pain is debilitating. I was on oral opiates for a week and was totally spaced out. With two children to look after I didn't know what was worse the pain or the out of it feeling.

  Don't let others get you down when you're right you're right.

  I am truly shocked by the amount of ignorance displayed by the CO. So the correspondene from the UN and the newspaper is all Satan is it? The societies excuse that it was all for a library card made it all ok and the magazines printed around the early 70's were all made up or dellusion.

  I am srry but there is no point arguing with these people and to throw in a lack of humily because you do not blindly accept the nonsense is typical of the response.

  These are important issues and important questions they deserve to be answered respectfully.
