July 15th WT - WT Society Promotes " Freedom " by using Fear & Guilt

of course, freedom means a lot of different things to many different people.

however- to the wt society it means controlling it's jw members through fear and guilt to promote a " conditional " freedom - which turns out to not be freedom at all - just a manipulated socially restricted condition in which jehovah's witnesses are caged animals waiting for the next bit of " spiritual " food to be thrown to them by wt articles like this.. at the start of this article on pg.

7 in paragraph 1 it states that due to lawlessness, none of us have freedom to roam around at night, there are alarms, security systems - so the wt society infers we are all living in fear.

The society likes to create the impression the people outside the congregation are all at the mercy of their baser emotions and that they live in a lawless society. However the multiple laws apply to everyone and certainly people within the congregations have broken mans laws many times without even admitting that they were wrong. What is different is that the people in the organisation are less free than people outside. Because they are unable to use judgement and discernment they are told what to do in every aspect of life including; love, attire, employment, interactions, thoughts and entertainment. Whilst people outside have moral capacity and maturity, witnesses need constant rules.

The tone is extremely judgemental rather than suggesting weak ones should be shown love and encouragement the advice here is to cut them loose. Harsh, uncompromising and cruel describe the organisation more than free.

I find the freedom to consider what I think on matters much more liberating. To be able to listen to debate and form an opinion is something to be cherished.

DC Ramblings: A non-comprehensive review of some lowlights

recently attended the dc.

there have been mny threads already on this, but here are some random thoughts giving my take on what i saw & heard.... .

-- attendance was about the same as last year, averaging around 8000 per session.

It is little wonder that witnesses are such miserable people. Being told that even having fleeting thoughts that something isn't right is now considered bad. They have formed a religion based on the idea that a small group of people studied the Bible independently and were blessed by God. However anyone els carrying out their own research would not be able to reach the same conclusions because they would not be blessed by God. This is madness. The Bible says search for me and I will be found. The premise of Christianity is a sincere effort to find God through personnal growth so everything they say flies in the face of the Bible.

They know that a small kernel of doubt can take root so they are trying to stamp it out before it has a chance to develop. Historically it was accepted that some people had doubts and providing they didn't express them then they were allowed to carry on. This thought control implies that having doubts of any kind is sin. It increases the fear of censure and starts someone on the path to Df'ing much quicker than before.

I am truly grateful to be away from the nonsense and I can spend my weekend watching Tennis and sipping wine.

I think the danger of spanking is that often parents give in to their own feelings of anger leading to immoderate behaviour. There is something very primal about laying hands on someone else and there is a danger of excessive punnishment.

Children can be taught to respect others and behave properly without being shown parents out of control.

my sister sent me this link this morning and listed on there are names of ''known'' apostates!

i made the list yey!

so did my nine year old daughter lol!

The apostate list is a little thin and hardly the most comprehensive list out there. Half arsed like every other piece of JW research ever done.

I always find it disappointing when they list someones sexual orientation as a reason to hate it just shows how far back in the dark ages they are.

My JW mum is in hospital

my poor mum fell over on sunday and broke her hip.

she was taken to hospital and yesterday had an operation to place a pin in the joint.

this was obviously a worrying time for all concerned and my dad let us all know what was going on.

My Dad fears it is permanent it will depend how the hip mends without any intervention. I am sure it has everything to do with the length of time her original op took and the fact that she has lost so much blood. You could tell just by looking at her she was anaemic.

The trouble is my sister will be convinced she did the right thing. They are so self righteous when these things happen.

Thanks Phizzy, luckily my Dad was never a JW but this is doing his head in. JWs do nothing practical, not one of them will be there to care for her needs and help out. They create the problems and walk away all smug that they have made someone adhere to their rules.

Update on my mum. Yesterday she fell whilst doing physio therapy and cracked her hip again. The surgeon says that the reason for the fall was anaemia and she had fainted. He will not operate again because of her condition as she may not be able to cope with another operation. The chances are she will need to use a wheelchair. My Dad is hoping she will have some mobility but this may take a long time and is not guaranteed.

All the unecessary suffering and the huge impact this policy has shows how disgraceful this religion is. I am so angry right now as well as worried about my Mum and Dad.

The other thing that totally annoyed me was that despite my Dad saying he does not want witnesses at the hospital they continue to visit. Even those close to my mum who have been spoken to directly by my Dad and sister have been visiting despite the fact that my mum is very ill and not fit to receive visitors. When asked why they went they said that because they weren't told from the platform not to visit then it is ok for them to come. How mind numbingly stupid and arrogant can they be. If I didn't live so far away I'd be camped in her room 24/7. Apparently I am so dreadful to be arround that my sister tries not to visit if she thinks I am coming.

These people are criminally stupid and fanatic adherence to corrupt doctrine is making me furious. They have no humanity just look for easy service hours, they do nothing useful like help to make her comfortable or clean her up if she is sick. I just hope that I was not such a human parasite whilst I was in.

For those who have been pregnant....

i wish i could be one those women who absolutely love pregnancy, i really do.

but i honestly don't care for it at all.

it was the same with my first pregnancy.

Never vomited once during either pregnancy. The only symptom I had was tiredness and a positive test. That being said I did not enjoy being pregnant since I had diabetes that stayed with me. I sympathise but the end is worth it.

Had a visit from JW's yesterday.

it took almost 3 years after we quietly left our last meeting (memorial 2008) before anyone came looking for us.

after nearly 25 years raising our family in the same hall and it was as if we didn't exist anymore.. that happened about a year ago but yesterday the boys and our daughter in law were here and were all having a late breakfast and lounging around in our robes an p.j's having a nice morning.

we were sitting at the kitchen table looking out the sliding glass door at one of those summer rains where it just buckets down all of a sudden.

I wonder if those in the car were still counting time? It also amazes me that it takes them so long to call on you and then the convention invitation is the excuse. So you don't want to come to meetings but you might be interested in sitting in a stadium for 3 days listening to endless droning talks.

Greetings! My first post

hello all at jwn!

i have been a lurker here the last few months and have been going through the process of researching both sides of the story of jehovahs witnesses.

i was raised in the borg, got married and now have a young child.. my wife is very much dedicated to the organization and will justify anything the "slave" does putting it off on the borgs imperfection.
