New to The Jehovahs Witness Faith and need some help

hello there i am new to the faith and have been studying for about a month.

i am very excited and hungry for the truth and have not missed a meeting or study since the memorial.

we do about 2 bible studies a week.

Your study gradually conditions you to do and accept things that you would never consider in the beginning. They say "you will know what to do" because they know that if they told you what is acrually expected at this early stage you would think they were crazy people. What they mean is when you have been conditioned enough you will judge your families choices and want to distance yourself from them. You will not want to support them because you will think that what they do goes against God. you will feel uncomfortable around them because their choices are different from your choices so you will distance yourself from them and spend less and less time with them. You will constantly feel the need to make a stand for your beliefs because keeping quiet will be seen as a compromise. JWs do not compromise. You be absent from all the family celebrations they hold dear, you will not celebrate their birthdays, be part of family Christmas or attend a military funeral. You will be pulled away from your family.

I am sad for your family as you sound like a supportive and loving daughter who has respect for the things your family holds dear. This religion will ask you to make many sacrifices in it's name and give up a lot of the things that you take forgranted. You will change from the person you are now and you won't even realise it is happening. You will be told that people who disagree with this religion may be well motivated but they are influenced by Satan and you shouldn't listen to them. You will trust the organisation more and your family less. A religion that will demand as much from you as this one needs to deserve the level of commitment they will require. You need to be very sure of that before you drive a wedge between yourself and your family.

These people mean well but they are already conditioned to believe that theirs is the only true religion and there is nothing else. They will not read anything that is critical of their faith and never check the cited references in their literature. Check everything and if they lie to you remember that this religion calls itself the "truth".

yup, the apostate is happy.

i shouldn't be, right, because my life is empty without "jehovah" and the organisation.. but i just got a job at one of the best theme parks in the world, which is so what i want to do, and it's the first permanent job i've had since i lost my government job in 2012!.

the job pays minimum wage but i don't care because working in tourism and entertainment is what i want to do!

Sent cover design to a publisher and they liked it

i was asked by a friend to design a book cover for her book of poems and finally after 3 designs found one she was happy with.

the publishers sent me a lovely response and asked if they could pass my details on to anyone who wanted cover art as i was obviously a professional.

was both surprised and delighted.

thank you all for your lovely comments. Will have to wait and see if anything comes of it. What a shame I didn't start this year's ago I could have my own studio by now.

Any ideas for my return visit?

i had a really fun day today.

i went to town on first call to witness to the jws on the trolley outside the main train station in the city.

i had prepared two different presentations depending on whether or not the jws knew me.. if they knew me i planned to tell them how unjust my last jc was and that i didn't believe jehovah cared about me or anyone, and if they didin't know me i would just question them about their disfellowshipping policy.

You did well in what was a very challenging situation. I would stick to questions don't be drawn into their agenda. When she said "so you lied" I would ask "does that concern you?" We all hate to be lied to, is it ever acceptable for a religion to lie or to be economical with the truth to protect it's reputation at the expense of it's members.

The religion lies to the public about disfellowshipping, they say it is a loving arrangement to bring someone to their senses.

They tell the public that JWs do not have to shun it is a personal choice. The elder told you not to talk to someone does that sound like a personal choice? Is it a personal choice when eating with a Df'd person is also a Df'ing offense?

If you can find examples of misquotes from the magazines and have the original article to show the publishers that may also be helpful.

Someone also had a good chat asking the question on how to leave the religion with dignity I don't remember who it was but it is in the archive somewhere. Certainly gives them something to think about.

Dove image was the one used with the clouds taken out and the title and authors name on the cover. The previous one with the figure was done according to her brief but she thought the picture too impressive for what was in her book.

Took 3 goes to get it how she wanted.

As fare as I know there are no hidden subliminal images.

This new donation direction and true selfishness!

so we all know about this new donation arrangement.?.

every cong is supposed to send in all their savings to the society for them to allocate or use however they see fit worldwide.. but here is where true "selfishness" has become apparent!

(remember just this last weekend the wt study was all about not being "selfish" or self willed??!!).

The speed to spend the money betrays a lack of trust in the society and a feeling that once the money goes they will not see it again. People are not seeing themselves as one organisation but as separate groups and they want to protect what they see as theirs.

Edmonton Convention 200 kms Away

this has come up before but we ran in to an old guy from the hall over the weekend and he confirmed a few things about the change of edmonton venue this year.

i'd mentioned this old fellow, too.

a rare friend from the kingdom hall, a real character, and i genuinely miss him.

Conventions are already hard work for anyone who is infirm or who has young children. Every time they make these crazy arrangments some find it too much and don't attend. To ask people to travel these distances daily is cruel. When they stopped car parking at our local venue and insisted everyone travel by coach I refused to go, it forced the decision because we needed to be able to leave or find somewhere quet if the convention got too much for our son. People have different needs and need consideration, making arrangements that only suit the young, fit and single really shows who are important to them.
