  Do you know your neighbors? Is it just me?

  i'm a single hispanic guy in my mid 30s living by myself in suburban america.

  i own a home in the kind of neighborhood where you have to get hoa permission to do just about anything, including chopping down a tree.

  i'm a white collar worker and lead a pretty boring life.

  We are lucky to live in a pleasant neighbourhood, I know most of my close neighbours and give art lessons to the lady across the street. We chat with most of them from time to time and will let them know if they left their car lights on or if we are having people over. Mind you it is a rural community and the local shop keepers recognise you and pass the time of day with you seeing the same people day after day builds a sense of community.

  My parents live in a wealthier street and they have little or nothing to do with their neighbours.

  The parents did not really consider whether it was appropriate for their child to handle a powerful gun. I am now aware whether they had fired such a weapon themselves and were aware of how hard they were to control. However the instructor should have been aware and should not have allowed her to fire such a weapon.

  I feel that this was a tragedy especially for a small child who now carries the burden of taking a human life. There should be an age restriction on these weapons at the very least to protect the stupid from themselves.

  atheists believe that god should stop the large-scale injustice on earth; if he does'nt, then he does not exist.

  jws believe that god will intervene sometime in the last days!.

  interestingly, both throw themselves on their own expectation of soemthing god should or will do, yet in fact something god does not have to do.

  As a JW I was never taught how to grieve properly and dead people are talked of as just sleeping. As a result is is very difficult to appreciate the loss and pain someone suffers when they have not been cushioned from the impact with false promises.

  This can make JWs insensitive and unfeeling and lacking in judgement and sometimes legislation is the only way to go.

  Will the JW.Org Site make a difference ?

  it will obviously make a difference to how jw's obtain their literatrash, they will have to download and print it all themselves before long.. it will make a small difference to the dtod work, they will now refer even genuine questions and interest etc to the site, not taking the opportunity to "witness" on the initial call at all.

  this has been happening already to a degree.. the difference i am mainly interested in is the capture of new suckers in to the borg.. we will be able to see when we get 2014's figures, sometime next year, what the rate of increase was over the last ten years.. phizzy the prophet predicts that the rate of increase over the next ten years will not be significantly up.

  probably down, but certainly, i feel, not so different from the last ten.. should i be around in ten years to do so, i will wish to ask jw's:.

  I find th emphasis on JW.org uncomfortable. As a witness growing up there was alot of emphaisis on the importance of God's unique name and how it should be respected. This emphaisis on initials and websites reduces this name to an initial. It seems cheap and disrespectful. It is as though the name is an embarrassment to them now and by using a single initial they provide some distance. They are not Jehovah's Witnesses they are JWs. This means nothing and stands for nothing.

  The organisation I left though bad at the time has got worse in the short time I have been away. Yes it is useful strap line and an easy way to give witnesses the idea they are doing something but in terms of the core principle of being a witness to gods name then it is nowhere near it.

  Truly shocking to deprive a man of his view. The kingdom hall looks like a factory a total eyesore. Is there any way they can be forced to demolish and rebuild in a more appropriate place?
