New here...
by hereiam! insorry if this starts off as a kind of a downer.. i am 29, and my husband and i have stopped going to meetings since last october.
we live in mexico and used to attend the english.
long story short, after realizing how many much we've been lied to we stopped going to our meetings, moved out of the territory, switched to spanish, and after a month of attending just vanished.

Can the internet apostates bring down the WTBS?
by Lozhasleft ini saw a thread on another forum suggesting this...based on all the info so readily available to so many nowadays...its certainly true that the society is warning all the witnesses about it.... what do you think?
is it possible that it could seriously affect their status?
loz x.

It helps but the control is very hard to break through. Those truly under the thumb would not put themselves in danger from wretched apostates.
Those most likely to get the benefit are those who know someone studying and want to educate themselves, the young and rebellious who are not yet under the cosh and those who are curious.

Is this secret code for 'have an affair with me' ?
by tec ini would just like some opinions on something that seems strange to me.
there is a man at my sons' school who comes every day to pick up his daughter.
he has always been friendly with me, and i am friendly back, which is fine.

Trust your instincts. His behaviour is different to normal playground interactions and the face that he has passed you his business card is a little lacking in class.
If possible ask your husband to come with you to pick the children up from school a couple of times and make a show of togetherness. He should get the message that you aren't interested in anyone else.

new kitten in the house...how to get the resident cat to accept?
by SnakesInTheTower inas some here may know, i got a cat at the local shelter a couple of years ago.
max (short for maxine)...is a very good natured, loving cat...as much as a cat can be.
lately she has really been trying for my attention.... why?.

If you cannot separate the cats and do a gradual intro then when the new cat is in the room with the existing cat always make a fuss of the old cat and make a big deal of them whilst ignoring the new cat. Put food for the old cat down first and feed the new one second. Cats have a pecking order and a new pet upsets the order of things for a while. They will adjust but if you don't help them establish order it can lead to stress amongst the cats and spraying in doors.
Good luck with that. We're introducing a new rabbit to the existing pets who are both a bit blood thirsty so know the problem well. Turns out the rabbit can stand up for itself pretty much.

What is the J.W. position on video games?
by outlander inwant to study with me last winter.
he came into my house and while walking around looking at things he noticed my shelved collection of video games, some going back 15 years, but most old playstation rpg and racing games, a few ps2 rpg'd mixed in.
the usual stuff, final fantasy and such.

If the game contains magic then bad because it is demonic
If the game has battles and fighting then bad because it encourages violence
If the game is to do with racing or sports then bad because it encourages a competitive spirit
If the game has none of those elements then bad because you should be using the time for study and service.
No video game is good all bad. I've just discovered games on facebook and they are addictive. I'm am now doing camelot and got destroyed yesterday because I mistakenly attacked a player with twice my strength. I was tired and hadn't had my tea so misplaced a decimal point. It felt good to be at war and noone really died. Sorry to all my facebook friends who get gift requests and who I made knights even though I suspected they weren't really interested.
The trouble with JWs is that their world is totally restricted and this means they have a distorted viewpoint.

Was Watchtower Elder Correct To Say This Dance Style was Unchristian?.
by Scott77 inafter watching this traditional / cultural dance below, do you think the elder was right to brand it as unchristian?
if yes, then is there such thing as a 'christian dance'?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90xrdyruyn8&feature=player_embedded.

It was a traditional dance from a non christian culture so it was an unchristian dance. Technically correct but in the context he was using it he just shows that he is mentally impoverished and not open to other cultures.

unsure about coldplay
by Weeping ini heard a song that i thought was pretty.
however, for the first time im analizing their music;do they belive in satanism?they always talk about the enemy god not in words, hiding words to be exact..or im just imagining things.
anyways, i've deleted their music.

Coldplay is pretentious whining to music. They are the small child with the perpetual why. They are not Satan worshipers they love themselves too much for that.
I think you are trying to see something meaningful in the drivel. It does you credit to think they have that much class.

If you felt/feel that you had/have good, close "friends" in the org, how did/does it feel to just give them up?
by Crisis of Conscience inthis is my biggest dilema.
although mentally i really feel i could walk away from the org right now, i still have genuine love for the people i have come to know over the years.
i love people!.

I take the view that I haven't given up these friendships but I am in a different place mentally and the friendships will not work as they once did. I am still there for them if they need me but I choose not to impose on their friendships.
I imagine that I have moved without actually moving house and have to build new relationships in a new area and have started making friends in the community. What this has taught me is that people are generally open to new friendships. Some people are desperately in need of a true friend, they are away from friends and family and need support. I have seen the importance of being a friend to others.
I miss my JW friends but not enough to compromise myself or my children. They know where to find me.
