you have a good friend there who was able to stand up for your rights. It is a shame the #jws just don't get it and also a shame that they were rather you were miserable..

20My friend's conversation with a JW about me! Lol!
by TimothyT inone of my old friends from work, who i used to have lots of spiritual conversations with, messaged me on facebook before and told me how he had a call from the jws this morning.
here is our conversation from facebook when he told me what happened:.
my friend: any way funny thing today, some jehovos came to me door and we were having a chat and i told them i didnt agree with their religion saying i was biased because i had a friend who used to be one and was kicked out for being gay and how could they preach like love etc and be so discriminative and then said they would know you mentioned your name and he did know you, and has even been on holiday with you in the past.

New Release for 2013 District Assemblies
by RubaDub inan insider at bethel has confirmed that there will be a new book released this summer at the district assemblies.
the society is using some new technology called "current light.
" it allows them to print the book with certain parts in permanant ink (as has been historically used) while other parts of the book have erasable ink.. as i understand it, sentences that begin with words such as "evidently, apparently, obviously, it appears that, likely, clearly, doubtless" and numerous other phrases will be in a slightly different font so that the "current light" sentences can be easily changed when needed.. for example:.

JWs in the UK: 27 years of yearbook stats and stagnation
by 88JM inokay, so i went on a bit of a statistics binge after looking at poland.
i thought i would have a look at my home country's yearbook stats here in the uk (britain).. so here they are for your consideration.
had to go into the loft for some of the older yearbooks, and found some other older publications too.. nothing too remarkable as such here, as far as i can see, apart from:.

Could be the introduction of family worship night and the encouragement for parents to report Bible studies with chiuldren. As Family worship night is a meeting in the home recording the bible study with children shows that it has been attended by all in the home.

This generation will by now means pass away..."
by Jewel ini haven't been to a meeting (other than some cousins' weddings) for well over twenty years.
i've always wondered what the fds was going to do with the "generations" thing once pretty much everybody who had been alive in 1914 is gone.
i get that they've come up with some "new light" about this topic, but when i ask my mom (who's still in) i only get "well, the new understanding is complicated...".

What did you do with your books?
by mamamo ini was in an used bookstore this weekend and saw a new world translation and some other society publications.
this made me think, what did others do with their books?
i gave mine to my mother, 22 years ago.

Would I be the punching bag?
by NeverKnew inpoor cognac's challenge has me thinking.. as a non-jw, if i were to marry this jw, would the congregation attribute problems we would encounter to him being married to me?
i don't want to be a punching bag.

It is very difficult to be a the non JW in a relationship with a JW. As a non believer you are seen as the cause of issues but never as part of the solution. Your opinion on matters has less worth than the societies opinion and when difficulties arise the instinct is to go to the elders and the literature for an answer. There is also little compromise it is their way or no way. It is hard to be in a relationship when one side is expected to make all the sacrifices and get little respect and appreciation. I would suggest that if you are not already committed to a JW then keep away.
