The letter shows all the manipulation you would expect. You have to make changes, they are feeling rejected by you and they are being forced to exclude you from one of the most important days of their lives.
Despite the protestations of love it comes across as very cold. If you feel the need to respond than make it clear that you have not rejected them as they suggest but that their decision not to associate with you is theirs alone. E.G.
We all love you very much and cherish the importance of family in our lives. As a family we share experience and upbringing and have a unique bond that is not easily broken or lightly cast aside. This means that we still love and respect you and appreciate all you have done for us. Our love for you is not conditional on what you believe, who you associate with or how you chose to live your life we are always available to you. We will not reject you or exclude you because you are that important to us.
You are right that we all have choices and we choose to love you always just as we love all our family.
However bear in mind that any response is likely to fall on deaf ears they will not be open to reason. With this in mind sometimes it is better to ignore the manipulation rather than fuel the fanaticism.

AUSTRALIA | TRANSCRIPT of Child Abuse Inquiry into Jehovah's Witnesses and Watchtower Society - April 2013
by jwleaks injw leaks has published the 17 page official transcript of the appearance by watchtower bible and tract society of australia and jehovah's witnesses before the "inquiry into the handling of child abuse by religious and other organisations" conducted on 11 april 2013 in victoria, australia.. http://jwleaks.org/australia/.
quote from rachel van witsen, legal counsel for watchtower bible and tract society of australia and jehovah's witnesses, in reply to who is responsible for reporting child abuse within the religion of jehovah's witnesses... .
ms van witsen at the moment, because there is no mandatory reporting for ministers of religion in victoria, then the victim, who has very often had their dignity removed, is then put in the drivers seat.. .

Just finished reading this. Their secret seems to be not to give a direct answer to any question. I cannot believe there are only 2 cases of child abuse in Victoria in 40 years. '(Even if they mean elders and MS's). They neglected to give the number of cases overall. I suppose this is spiritual warfare but it is also dishonest.
Time and again it is stressed that the victim can report to authorities but they see no reason for elders to report independently.
I found it extremely disheartening that procedure counts for more than proactive protection of children. I also found it upseting that they think that they are doing enough, there is no drive to change. The committee didn't even go into the area of warning parents of risk but I get the feeling that they found the whole thing very frustrating.

ANONYMITY (Is it really possible on the Internet?)
by Terry ini should begin by screaming the word: no!.
keeping secret your identity while posting in a public forum is like removing your pubic hair with a blowtorch.
which is to say, theoretically possible but not at all feasible!.

Perhaps our experience can help. We were presented with our postings on this forum and printouts of our facebook pages despite the fact that our privacy settings were high and I always posted personal experiences in the members only section of the forum. We had no JW friends on facebook and had successfully faded for a year. Just because you use a pen name does not mean that you cannot be traced from the information you share.
For us it was not the end of the world we were ready to start afresh and it was not the trauma it could have been.
Anyone who has signed up to the forum can read members only stuff whether they post themselves or not. Anyone can send you a pm claiming to have had a similar experience and gain information you would not share generally. Friends of friends can see facebook posts you have comented on.
Feel free to express views but be careful what information you share with people you do not know unless you are ready to leave.

It is surprising how long it takes to get rid of this stuff. Even though we set to with a will to throw out the lot, literature still turns up under the bed or hiding at the back of cupboards. I really need to move house that way I will know I have purged the lot.

I think he has a warped idea of what the word work means. I would suggest he took the job under false pretenses and misled his employer. He claimed to be a cake decorator when in fact he was only able to decorate a limited number of cakes. He would have known that there would be an expectation to produce finished cakes for a number of occasions but also knew he would not be willing to decorate any of the seasonal items.
What is annoying is this person took the job away from someone else who would have been willing to work and who would have been able to have a good christmas themselves with a wage coming in.

What about denying the governing body is gods representative on earth? That was what the elders were concerned about in our case.

Will AAWA Become another cult?
by His Excellency inplease sorry for english, i have only been learning for 18 months.
everyone please think about it, and beware of any initiative designed to solve "a community problem".
becasue russel also started his own cult on a similar premise like this , claiming to have all the answers to issues whose solutions seems obscured to the majority in his days, and here we are today, constantly bashing our fingers on the keyboard in a bid to finding comfort from the mess he had put all of us into.

Cedars is just one of the founders. He is a strong willed bugger but the other founders and officers are not exactly push overs.
Not only that AAWA needs everyone to pull together and that won't happen is there is any whiff of egotiscal, dictatorial, despotic leadership.
Edit: I can't wait to get my computer back so I can stop posting accidently on Nugget's account!

I wonder how many people who receive an invite will be motivated to actually attend. When they get there will they be offered a seat or be told that certain rows are not for them or be faced with rows covered in coats. Will people actually welcome them on site or look at them strangely because they look different?
If you are df'd can you really expect a welcome? Not realistic as they are told not to greet you.
Is it really welcoming to go somewhere and hear a lecture about how corrupt, diseased, and wicked you are?
