if osama bin laden is captured and has to come to trial, what should his punishment be if he is found to be guilty of the murder of over five thousand people?.
would europeans accept any us demands for execution?.
I hope that he does not get the death penalty. I would like to see him get life, but he must serve it in the general population of a prison. Then, as a nation, we could start a 1 million cigarette reward to the first inmate that makes Bin Laden a Bitch. See how he likes living as a woman for the rest of his life.
A request for evidence is unreasonable if it burns your sources. Don’t fret however Gweedo it looks like the US is going to take the least force option, at least at first. Powell is against committing a large force in Afghanistan, and Bush wants to work with the Muslim world not against it. My prediction is the retaliation is going to take the form of US and British commando raids, supporting the Northern Alliance, aid the population of Afghanistan in the way of food and medicine and working with exiled Afghani’s, the UN and the NA to try to create a stable interim government. Going for the whole harts and minds thing. Will it work? I have no idea and neither do you, but its probably a logical first step. You can always ratchet up a war but it’s hard to slow it down once it starts.
in these days of the great cowboys preparing for the man-hunt, here are some lines telling what the mediterranean/european sentiments are, as published by a political commentator.
No Gweedo I never said that ‘wars just happen’. What I said is that they are sometimes inevitable, sometimes necessary, and sometimes both. You confuse the will to defend oneself with the blood lust for war.

Yes I agree war is terrible. As a matter of fact I think very few Americans would disagree with that statement. Your post however does not address the reality that sometimes war is both inevitable and necessary.
If you look in Quadrant III (if I remember my math correctly - lower left hand corner) the fat guy scratching his head and sack at the same time made me ROTFLMAO.
the uk government has announced that it is very serious about making it compulsory for citizens to carry an id card in view of the risk of subversive activity increasing.
it seems to me that this is the thin edge of the wedge.
i spent years trying to get out of a repressive organisation, and then even more years getting that organisations brain-washing out of my head.
My biggest problem with ID cards is that they are very easy to forge. I really don’t think they will accomplish much. Biometrics on the other hand could make terrorism very difficult. I could foresee that in a couple of years you would have to do a retinal scan at every Mass transit terminal (airlines, trains, etc). I could see some industry having their employees likewise scan to get to work; places like refineries, chemical plants, and other sensitive jobs. This would make certain aspects of our life a little less free but not interfere with our general day to day living.
Also congress is debating adding a ‘sunset clause’ to all the new legislation they are talking about. What this means is that the legislation would expire in two years unless congress votes to continue it.
i know, what a weird title for a thread.. over a year ago, i read in some news media of speculation in the .
intelligence community that terrorists were in the beginning stages.
of launching a biological-terrorist attack in the u.s.. in the article was the belief that muslim (islamic fanatic) women arriving by airflights into the u.s., were the smugglers of genetically-engineered/modified anthrax bacteria cultures, by concealing these cultures in some form of protective casings, within their vaginas.... much the same way some drug smugglers bring in heroin or cocaine into the country by putting it in condoms and cramming these into whatever body orifice they can.. then these women would deliver the goods to 'underground' laboratories in the u.s. (could be someone's kitchen or basement) for growing these cultures of biological strains into enough of a quantity of bacteria to release in an attack.... and then 9/11 came.. and then this article appears in the media:.
This is actually technically very difficult. To transfer chemical agents from a container to the cropduster chemical tank would probably result in the terrorist killing themselves in short order. As far as biological agents this is more of a threat, 4 out of 5 of the major biological threats however are treatable with standard antibiotics. Just some information.
I saw an interview with a pilot for a major airline last Tuesday. The pilot said that if you fly now you should always keep you seat belt on; the reason being that if the plane is subject to an attempted hijacking they have orders to depressurize the cabin (this means you must breath through the air mask or die) and to go through a series of violent maneuvers to make sure whoever is not buckled in cannot walk.
If they had dual citizenship they would be considered Americans. And the news I am watching is not differentiating between nationalities, it is just giving the total number of victims, and then usualy states that they came form 61 different countries. It does go without saying that this is really a world tragedy.
