Here is the other reference to the "slave" on page 5. One thing I check with each kool aid WT is use the search box with the word "faithful" up on top to see how many times they reference themselves. This month there are two, which is about the average I've noticed for about the last year or so...

An in-depth study of God’s Word can produce in you an understanding heart. (Prov. 15:14) That will help you to offer heartfelt counsel that is solidly based on the Bible. If you allowyour decisions to be guided by what you read in the Scriptures and in publications of “the faithful and discreet slave,” you will experience the refreshing and stabilizing influence of Jehovah’s inspiredWord. (Matt. 24:45)

Pretty much a standard reference, but I love how they say "and" in publications of the slave. Can't just read the bible by itself!

Check out this paragraph from the article titled "Following Christ, the Perfect Leader" its on page 27, not a study article

Yes, Jesus’ leadership is progressive, not stagnant. Another way to cooperate with Christ’s “brothers” is to have a positive attitude toward any refinements in our understanding of Scriptural truths as published by “the faithful and discreet slave.”—Matt. 24:45.

So once again, the faithful and discreet slave equates themselves with Christ.

The picture on that page is priceless too, showing a woman rejecting a ring from a "worldly man" with a "stop sign" hand. Check it out!

i ask this in consideration of last week's and this week's congregation bible study which focuses on the responsibilities of christian parents, and husbands.

i also ask this in harmony with itscrap&theyknowit's thread which is a heluva opening post by the way.

I think whether it causes more or less stress often depends on how much each person is "with the program" meaning how motivated they are to do all of the things the WT requires. Another big factor is if the wife is working or not. I have seen many JW families hum along for years with precision when both the husband and wife are motivated, and the wife can take care of things at home without having to get a full time job. As far as I know they were happy, and weren't stressed out by the burdens of WT life.

But if you have a working wife, a wife who doesn't believe in the WT line about "headship", a lazy husband (at home I mean, someone who doesn't want or like to help out) or if either one of them overly concerned about APPEARANCE then the train can come off the tracks real quick. In these situations, they are already having a hard enough time making their marraige work, then the WTBTS comes into the picture with their time-grabbing requirements. One or both of the spouses start feeling "guilty" becasue they aren't measuring up to the requirements coming out of Brooklyn. Then they start fighting over stupid, little things that really shouldn't matter but they do because of the fear/guilt factor piled on them by the WT.

Then if they do want some help, the elders give them worthless advice. Basically they tell the wife to sit down and shutup, and the husband to be a better head, which is code for dominate your family and tell them what to do. Oh, and btw get to more meetings, go in service more, and everything will work out. You know, stay on the WT hamster wheel and never get off. How in the world is that going to help a marriage?

Why would abandoning 1914 mean they are not chosen by God?

i've read here that if the wt admits 607 is wrong or if 1914 is wrong, the logical result is that god did not choose them as his org.

can someone explain to me how that logically follows?.

couldn't they just say, "we have received new light on that, have learned that we cannot give a specific date (like how they abandoned 1935), but look, we adhere to the bible more strictly than anyone else, we strive to 'keep the cong clean' more than any other group, etc., so therefore, we must be chosen by god as his only org.

I think their "overlapping" doctrine will keep them from seriously looking at changing 1914 for a long, long time, if ever. They are already golden for another 30 years or so with just one overlap.

Then they can just say that some of the FDS will always be here on earth, appointed by Jesus. They can drop 144k and make it work for at least another century.

Do more musicians become apostes?

i was playing guitar today, trying to teach my friend nothing else maters by metallica.

now most of us can agree that no jw would ever ever ever admit to listen to metallica to brother or sister.

but behind the words and the swear words of any song or band.

The WT is all about INFORMATION CONTROL.

Music and the lyrics are generally deep human expressions. These expressions, or feelings, are what make us tick. Of course, in WT world, feelings and individuality are repressed, pushed down and held in as they are looking for robotic obedience.

So the WT constantly bangs on "worldly" music as an influence of the devil. But people love music, so they often break the WT's information hold by listening to the music they like.

But to answer your question, any musician who starts expressing themself freely will start butting heads against the WT. So yes, I would guess many become apostates.

it's only my opinion of course and so long as forum rules aren't breached we're all free to express ourselves as we see fit.

I love me some WTWizard posting, but I see your point.

I guess as long as the WT brands us as "apostates" then I can't really feel that bad about any names that posters attach to them and their cult.

I hate how this religion treats women. If they aren't busy degrading them as the "weaker vessel" they are slamming them as gossipers. Then come the rules on how to dress and knowing your place.

Then along comes an example like this of someone who follows all the rules and the org/husband treats her like a throwaway doll. LOL that he finally realized what he has and stepped down. Welcome to the board.

Infuriating!

Here sits an organization claiming to speak God's innermost thoughts on what people are supposed to do and how they are supposed to act.

And yet, when it comes to prohibiting potentially lifesaving medical treatments their response is "Oh, we haven't quite worked out the details yet. Wait on Jehovah, then it will all work out." This is what happens when unqualified cult leaders are put in charge of other people's LIFE AND DEATH medical decisions.
