Another generation....
by joey jojo init has been 21 years since the 1995 article that pretty much buried the idea of the '1914 generation'.. remember those guys?
the ones born in 1914 that would still be alive when the end of the system arrived.. i'm glad i'm old enough to remember going from door to door, preaching this belief.
the reason i say that is because i have a lot of 'still in' jw friends and family.

Model Jw family?
by MrTheocratic ini would like to get the opinion of those on this community.
does serving as an elder make one a bad family man.
with all the demands placed on those serving... how can one make time for family life?

I didn't like the person I was becoming when I was made an elder. The pressure of it all, the lack of time for myself and my family. I think if an elder makes it past the first few years, they and the family just start to accept it as "the way it is" and deal with it however they have to, meaning there could be a lot of double life stuff going on.
I was out within two years of being made an elder, it literally woke me the fuck up.

What Are the Top JW Issues That Just Burn Your Buns the Most?
by Wild_Thing inwhich ones make you the maddest?
covering up of abuse, shunning, failed end of world predictions?.
my list is long and heavy, but the top 3 that set me off the most are:.

RubaDub...love how you bring up the one towel rule every chance you get. A+ for consistency..
For me, it was end times prophecy. I was basically told in 1990 by my study conductor that there was basically no way the world would last more than 10 more years, based on "this generation" teaching at the time. Made a lot of bad decisions at that time based on that.

Is reasoning with a JW the answer?
by Saved_JW inwhen i first left the watchtower society, i can remember being very eager to learn new information, especially information which pertained to discrediting the watchtower organization.
i called it "the cage stage" .
this excitement and newfound change in worldview completely rocked my world.

Do either of you know of any moderately intelligent witnesses?
Yes, I do. Intelligence is not the problem!! The problem is they are under mind control. How do you think they function out in society, many of them moderately to very successful? They aren't dumb, they are under the control of the WTS, that they are God's channel of communication. Breaking that is the first step to freeing the JW mind.

The Effects Of Instant Information At Your Finger Tips How Will The Watchtower Ever Survive Very Long?
by Brokeback Watchtower init is hard to teach that the earth is flat these day do to a more informed society, and now that we have entered the information age i see a whole new ball game is before a rather ignorant bunch of old farts called the governing body.
these guys are totally ignorant by choice and are trying desperately to keep their captive's ignorant for as long as possible.
the gb's internet apperances are all laughable to any sane individual and a total embarasement.

I'll take it a step further beyond curiosity and state you have to have some COURAGE to look into things.
Courageous people will follow the information to its logical end, no matter the consequences. WT purposely sets it up so that within a few seconds of hearing or reading "apostate" information the JW has a choice to make.
One choice leads to everything staying the same. If they reject it out of hand, their little world remains intact with their hope, but also with their friends and family.
They other choice means the loss of their hope, and the very real possibility of losing all of their friends and family, depending on their level of involvement.
Its a very evil setup, designed to keep the machine running for a very long time. That is why they will never, ever stop shunning those who leave.

We Need to Vote God Out of Politics
by Village Idiot inhere is an excellent article from the salt lake tribune on the issue of having "god" mixed with politics.
the author makes the point that gods are merely a reflection of people's egos who just happen to say whatever it is the believer wants to believe.. here are some excerpts: .

There is no way an atheist, agnostic, or a non-Christian for that matter would ever be elected POTUS. Its maddening how Americans cling to their imaginary friend in the sky. -

i'm not, nor ever be a jw.

Amazing Growth! Jehovah Is Blessing The Preaching Work!
by Divergent intoday's text:.
saturday, april 2. the little one will become a thousand.—isa.
60:22.. perhaps we live in an area where there are few witnesses or where we do not see a lot of immediate results in our preaching work.

Its actually a good question to ask a JW if they show up at your door. Might get the hamster running on the wheel up there for a minute or two. -

JW.ORG Channel on Roku
by Wild_Thing inon my roku box, i went to the most popular channels and there sits jw.org.
it has a rating of 5 stars with over 43,000 reviews!
more than the nbc news channel, and more than the history channel.

I was pretty shocked to see this on my Roku as well.
On the other hand, if any "worldlies" end up watching that drivel (think bread example, stupid JW song where they fall in love over a trash bag) they will run and hide from the cultists, and that's a good thing!
