Copy/Paste for anyone interested:
17 What about the propriety of brothers wearing a beard? The Mosaic Law required men to wear a beard. However, Christians are not under the Mosaic Law, nor are they obliged to observe it. (Lev. 19:27; 21:5;Gal. 3:24, 25) In some cultures, a neatly trimmed beard may be acceptable and respectable, and it may not detract at all from the Kingdom message. In fact, some appointed brothers have beards. Even so, some brothers might decide not to wear a beard. (1 Cor. 8:9,13; 10:32) In other cultures or localities, beards are not the custom and are not considered acceptable for Christian ministers. In fact, having one may hinder a brother from bringing glory to God by his dress and grooming and his being irreprehensible.—Rom. 15:1-3;1 Tim. 3:2, 7.
So, in reality, its gonna be up to the local God squad to decide if you are allowed to wear your beard and get so called privileges.

Your story is a little confusing...were you not free to marry, I'm talking JW version (BARF)
Why talk to them? Just fade away and decide for yourself what to do.

Nobody at work knows what JWs believe
by Athanasius inrecently susie, one of my co-workers mentioned that her husband's family were all jws.
the family converted after susie's husband left home, so he never joined the jws, nor does he intend to.
anyway another co-worker asked her: "what do the jws believe?".

Yep. Its usually three things. No holidays. No birthdays. And occasionally its no blood.
Other than that, nobody knows anything about this silly little American cult.

Introduction - Any Believers?
by Believer ini’ve been reading it for a few of years off and on, but have been a little too ... maybe ... timid to join.
i left the watchtower organization almost 20 years ago but never abandoned my faith and belief in god.
i knew the gb/organization didn’t represent god, so when i lost my faith in them, i managed to keep my faith in an all wise benevolent creator.

Is it reasonable to conclude rape and sex slaves if God required a month before marrying the person? A month is a long time to hold off on rape.
Wow. Just wow.

Judge sanctions WTS - $4k per day penalty for not producing sex abuse documents
by Simon injudge sanctions jehovah's witnesses.
imposes $4000-a-day penalty for not producing documents in sex-abuse case.
by dorian hargrove, june 24, 2016. a san diego superior court judge has ordered the church of jehovah's witnesses, also known as the watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, to pay $4000 a day for every day that it fails to produce documents requested in a civil lawsuit brought by former parishioner, osbaldo padron, who claims a church elder sexually abused him when he was seven years old.. in a june 23 ruling, expected to be made final today, judge richard strauss admonished the church for willfully ignoring a court order to produce all documents associated with a 1997 body of elders letter that church leaders sent to parishes around the world in a quest to learn about sexual abuse of children by church leaders.. over the course of the past year, the watchtower society and its lawyers have fought hard to keep the letter confidential, claiming that turning over the documents would infringe on the privacy of those mentioned in the letter that were not associated with the case.. in march 2015, the church turned over a heavily redacted version of the letter.

How odd, I didn't read that anywhere in the OP.
Believer has been asked to clarify his position, based on the teachings of Jesus. Not the happy feel good ones, the ones that state all non believers will be cast into hell. Yet he still refuses to answer. He simply states us doofus atheists are confusing religion with God.
I'd at least respect you Xians if you simply said that Jesus is the man, we support his position, and all the rest of you can burn in hell if you don't agree. Yet you duck and dodge because that position. Why?

LostGeneration, it can't be stopped. That's what freedom is all about. Free to believe or not believe in something. The problem is psychos and those who teach hatred.
It can be stopped. Not in my lifetime but maybe in centuries there will be fewer believers of all stripes hindering progress.
When I came on this board as a struggling JW I was fully convinced that I just needed to be a plain old Xian and then I would be just fine. But the debates back then helped me rip my belief system down to nothing and then admit to myself what was the most logical and reasoned position.
I participate now for the same newbies and lurkers who might be doing that same thing. Those people have kids, I'd prefer they not indoctrinate them with some form of Christianity that teaches that their God is going to toss non-believers into hell fire. Or kill them off. Or judge them because they happen to be different in some way their holy book says is sinful. Xians and others who promote any religious position publicly aren't going to steamroll over the rest of us just because they say that's how it has to be.

Ignoring that ad hominem rant Lieu, the issue of belief is important because it is holding our society back as a whole. The longer humans persist in believing in myths the longer people will continue to suffer on on earth because of so called holy books.
And I'll go ahead and pose the question, do you see it?

And Believer once again ducks and dodges DJS without even having the balls to answer the question. No wonder we tire of the endless preaching and then when the rubber hits the road there isn't a straight answer. Back to the OP, though you failed to address my original point, what justification is there for you to pick and choose only the GOOD teachings of Jesus and completely disregard the ruinous and destructive teachings of this man.
It does not harm myself or anyone else and I can’t see why others would find these simple teachings offensive.
Matthew 25:41New International Version (NIV)
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
Your teachings of Jesus condemn me to fire, Gehenna, whatever straw you are splitting today. How would this NOT be offensive to anyone who doesn't regard Jesus the same way you do??
