Absolute double speak when you consider that they say there has always been "a faithful slave" OK then WT, who was it then up until Chuck came along. How were there always "anointed' when there wasn't an org. If there wasn't an org, how did the 'anointed' study on their own and receive holy spirit. Chicken and the egg scenario, but as the OP states people just dont think about it long enough to see the BS.

Have any of you asked your JW family why they started the kool-aid edition?
by serenitynow! ini mean really asked why after all these years they don't want the public to see the study articles?.
has anyone ever challenged a jw to give the private wt to "worldly" people?.
i've asked my mom why they have the private edition and she gave me some crap about not having to explain terms or teachings to worldly people, then she kind of blew me off like it wasn't an important issue.

Unshackled, they offer one mag to the public, no study articles at all. The other mag is still called "watchtower" It has either 4 or 5 study articles per edition. The front is the same design every month, though they do rotate the colors - they all seem to be different shades of vomit. maybe someone here can post a pic of what the covers look like

Something that's been on my mind for a while and I finally put into words.
by WontLeave inshould i turn "apostate"?.
when anyone is replying to a matter before he hears [it], that is foolishness on his part and a humiliation.

NYC Memorial Speaker Removed From Stage - Can Anyone Confirm/Deny?
by LostGeneration inback in the late 80's, a former bethelite told me a story about an incident in new york, at least i assume that is where it happened.
i dont believe he was actually in attendance, but was relaying what had happened at some other hall.
don't remember all of the details of the story, but here are the basics.. some speaker was giving the memorial talk, and started going into the part about the bread and the wine being emblems of christ.

Some speaker was giving the memorial talk, and started going into the part about the bread and the wine being emblems of Christ. Well instead of the usual company line about 144k, he said that everyone should partake. Of course some grumblings start up when he goes off tangent, but he doesn't stop. Eventually he is forcibly removed from the stage, and I assume out of the hall. Somebody else gets up there and finishes out the talk the "right way" of course.
The guy who told me the story I think was there from around 84 to 89, but I could be off a bit, just a guess. So I was wondering if this incident happened in the early 80's, or maybe its just some sort of apostate urban legend. Just wondering if it was true and if any know of more details...

Why DO Horrible Things Happen, Anyway?
by Farkel inthe insane things that occur to people who just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time is scary and creepy to me.
a little girl is holding her teddy bear and as a coincidence is tragically on that same street when a bunch of gang-bangers decide to stage a gun fight because someone looked cross-eyed at one of their girl friends (you mamy insert any other bullshit reason here), so they start shooting and the little girl is shot and killed because she is innocently in their cross-fire.
when captured and arrested, the gang-bangers says they are "sorry" for snuffing out the life of that little girl.

Yes spooky indeed....your #5 gave me a flashback to some delusional elders who looked forward to the time when they would be "princes" in the new world.
The little girl killed in your story is the lucky one. The pain continues for years for the little girl who is molested and has to figure out why that happened for the next 70 years of her life....That why I lean toward your #1 or your #2. If I was God you bet your britches I wouldn't let this stuff to keep happening. Oh I forgot, Jah has a big wager with Satan that he has to make his five bucks back on.....

The WTBTS = Abusive Partner
by Libelle ini thought about this in the early days of the mr's conversion, thought i'd run this by you folks and see what you think.
i think, sometimes, that the wts took it's ideas right out of "how to be an abuser 101" text book.. 1. isolation - both of them do their darnest to isolate the new convert/victim from her/his previous life, family friends, interests.
tell them they're a bad influence, tell them "they hate me" or hell, tell them they're just tools of satan to get them out of the victim's life.. 2. create a dependence upon the abuser/wts - there's no one else who will love you/have the right doctrine like i/we do.

Straight out of the cult handbook.
Point 1 falls under thought control - Us vs. them (inside vs. outside)
Point 2 falls under behavior control - Need for obedience and dependency
Point 2 falls under emotional control - Excessive use of fear. Of course while the irrational fears can be overcome, they do hold the cards in taking away family/friends, so its a very real and rational fear for those who want to leave...
