this is an actually quote made by a district overseer at a convention in dekalb illinois in august of 2008...yep, no joking, swear on a holy bible...he actually said that.

just thought about the quote and thought i should post it to share it with the fellow 'apostates' (sarcasm)..

Hey Mary, here is the article it was from, of course they don't say it is "their teachings" but rather "a scriptural teaching" so they really dont admit to what I remembered....of course when do they admit to anything so its not really a surprise.

A lot of the old schoolers still cant get rid of the "unapproved associate" tag that the WT used to enforce...I mean DFing is pretty crazy, but punishing teens (who never got dunked) because they smoked cigarettes or had sex was the ultimate in cultdom. It was so weird when they got rid of that, I remember being 10 or 11 and after a meeting one day everybody was suddenly talking to this older kid because the ban had been lifted. Quite an example of "group think" now that I look back on it...

once again our lurking jw friend sent us the oct. 15th jw study version for the wt studies.

in this article you'll observe the wt society really making jehovah's witnesses question themselves, doubt themselves - even if what they are observing the organization doing - they are not to doubt jehovah or the organization, but their own imperfect human judgments.

in other words : " don't trust your own mind - it's skewed ".. under the article titled, " keep on seeking first his righteousness " on pg.8 it lays the groundwork in stating, " seeking his righteousness includes trying to live according to his values, and perfect standards, not our own.

If you really want to see how "dumbed down" it has gotten, find and original KM from say the early 70's. Line it up next to one from this year. There is literally four times the information on the old ones compared to the current KMs.

They just want mindless drones these days...

me: right now, i'm less than 48hrs away from a jc hearing in which i will likely be df'd for apostasy.. .

tnb: do you feel the wtbts has any power or hold on you, if not why attend a jc.

you don't have to attend, unless of course you have information you want to point out to them.

Valid question. I did consider a letter of disassociation but proceeding with a JC gives me an opportunity to expose certain truths to some friends who are still in. That is my only reason for not going the DA route.

You can accomplish the same with a letter, especially if it reaches those you want to reach before the announcement. Some may disagree (playing by their rules), but a carefully worded letter that does not ramble on about all of your "apostate" views may reach the mind of some. Simply state your primary objection, and why you must be honest to yourself or the bible, and stand up against what you feel is the unjust authority of the WTBTS/Elders.

It saves you the headache of dealing with a kangaroo court where the outcome is predetermined before you set foot in the door.

protestantism arose in 16th-century europe in an effort to reform the roman catholic church.

the word protestant was first applied to the followers of martin luther at the diet of speyer in 1529. since then, the term has generally come to describe all those who adhere to the tenets and goals of the reformation.

You don't want some JW finding out that Chuck Russel was actually an Adventist who decided to start his own religion. What better way to do it than to just say once again you are the Truth and everyone else is wrong. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

He must have been shocked when that WT came out that said one of the reasons people leave are because of "teachings" Actually in retrospect I'm pretty surprised they ever printed that!

Does Jehovah prefer to be worshipped by force ?

as many of us know, the shunning policy is a useful tool to the wts.. it helps to retain members by force, holding family members hostage.. many members go back, not because they believe in what is being taught.

by the wts, but out of the human need to have the love and affection from.

But I get your point. If by "Jehovah" you mean the WTS, then yes. They would rather you be a captive to their system of worship then allow you to figure out your own way. Why else would they have such a rigid system of rules and regulations?

In fact, they are so deluded in their belief that they have "the truth" they can print articles like that and not even recognize how it points directly back on their own religious system.

Have any of you asked your JW family why they started the kool-aid edition?

i mean really asked why after all these years they don't want the public to see the study articles?.

has anyone ever challenged a jw to give the private wt to "worldly" people?.

i've asked my mom why they have the private edition and she gave me some crap about not having to explain terms or teachings to worldly people, then she kind of blew me off like it wasn't an important issue.
