I nominate SD-7 to write it for you....
I'm sure he could get you in plenty of trouble..
hello, i haven't posted for some time but am alway here.
i hope that i can get some help with may talk and yes as the title says i am serious.
i just don't have the energy to do all the research.
I nominate SD-7 to write it for you....
I'm sure he could get you in plenty of trouble..
some of you have previously posted your experiences of going to other religions' places of worship.
i'd like to post mine, primarily because i think it would be helpful to any newcomers here who are still in the organization.. i no longer believe god to be an actual person or being.
i am not looking to be taught or led or shepherded.
The whole time I was there I felt a sense of freedom; I could wear what I wanted, I could have a beard - some had tattooes. I could get up and go to the restroom
But do they let you hold your wife's hand during prayer?
Just kidding. Sounds alright, except for the tithing. I dunno, now that I am out of the WT I really like keeping all of my money. Glad you found something you like. I guess other churches have "love amongst themselves" after all. Another WT lie exposed.
from msnbc:.

half way down it states unemployment stats:.
While an active JW, I never understood why they were so anti-education. Of course, I was too brainwashed to think about it much. It was simply, "Well, I'm too busy with all of my JW stuff, so I don't really have time for education anyway" and that was pretty much it. Now I see why they are hammering on it so much. Because "education" and the environment surrounding it provide so many exits from the cult.
Like Band mentions, first you might begin to think on your own. That could lead to interpreting the bible on your own, or simply rejecting it as the basis of GB authority.
Then there are those pesky classes, which teach all kinds of things in opposition to literal bible interpretation. Science is a huge one, as is psychology, you might just realize your in a cult!
Then the environment. So many people having discussions which aren't controlled by what is printed in the latest WT. Religious and non-religious people from all over the world, all with different perspectives and interesting points of view. Its just so different from the local KH, no wonder the powers that be don't want you in that kind of environment!
Oh and then there of course is that degree you get at the end. Employers want and need you now, and that will lead to all sorts of problems like having a decent lifestyle with extra money that can be used for things like entertainment and vacation.
does that book look like one of the for dummies books.
jw's for dummies.. .
and what's with the "using every possible means" bit.
"using every possible means"
Just not TV, podcasts, radio, community outreach centers, newspapers, or food banks and just a smidge on the internet, because its ok for the WTBTS, but not the sheep.
from msnbc:.

half way down it states unemployment stats:.
From MSNBC:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41905394/
Half way down it states unemployment stats:
5% if you have a college degree
11.9% if you have a high school diploma
17.9 if you have nothing
8.4% if you have some college or a two year degree
Like the GB says, having a college degree doesn't guarantee you will have a job (it just makes if far more likely that you will)
so i have good reason there's a possibility that the convention may have so nu-lite on daniel prophecy.
coming from the geniuses that brought us the overlapping generation, one can only speculate what nuttiness they will come up with next..
Maybe the next Study WT will give us a hint. Didn't the overlapping generation theory come out around this time last year in the Study WT?
When is the first DC?
NU-LITE on Daniel prophecy - Maybe they will drop their 7 times = 2520 years = 1914 = We were appointed in 1919.
Yeah right
to the intellectually honest witness, it seems like it often comes down to this principle.
"fine, if the witnesses aren't the truth, then show me the better answer and i'll consider it.
" and how do you deal with that?
I think the "where" or "who" else will you go to question has much to do with the witness desire to "be right" Of course they replaced the who (Jesus) in the scriptrure with where (the org) so that is how they think about it.
They are convinced (as most of us were at one time) that it is "THE TRUTH." Now of course we all hate that term now, and it is so arrogant and condescending on every other human who thinks differently. But you have to think like a JW. If you have THE TRUTH and for some reason you actually end up exploring whether or not it is actually THE TRUTH, you can go two ways. You can question whether there is ANY TRUTH, or you can look for A DIFFERENT TRUTH.
Its difficult, if not impossible for an active JW to jump to the free thinking idea that there is really no truth, just opinions. I would say most of us atheist/agnostics here first transitioned from JW to some sort of Christianity for a time, even if is just a few weeks or months. When that didn't make sense to us, we questioned further.
I guess the bottom line of this ramble is that if you are talking to a JW who is willing to question the org, they need to have somewhere to go in the meantime. Most are unable to completely drop the idea that they need to be "doing something" to make God happy so they need that replacement place to go, at least for a while
3. why has god allowed suffering?.
for a time, jehovah has tolerated rebellion.
to show that no.
Yeah the whole "God is allowing man to try every form of government" thing is pretty lame.
Oh, nobody had tried Nazism so he let hitler come along and slaugher 6 million Jews, as well as cause the death of probably 40 million more through WWII.
Oh nobody had really tried Communism so he let old Joe Stalin give it a shot. 20 million dead people later, still Gods not satisfied so he lets Mao give it his best shot in China. Another 30 million dead at least, and still Jehovahs sits on the sidelines.
hi everyone, someone just made me notice that the pdf document on the u.n. website proving that the watchtower associated itself as ngo from 1991(demand) to 2001 has been deleted or is missing.
http://www.un.org/dpi/ngosection/pdfs/watchtower.pdf i sent an email (very short since they don't allow more than 200 characters) to the un to inquire.
i doubt that they'll respond.i suspect that the watchtower pressured the un to deleted that link.....
Looks like we all need to start calling/emailing/writing the UN and inquiring about the WT's status as an NGO. That document needs to be up, I am going to send them an email right now, if that doesn't work I will mail them a real letter.
i've read the term "bethel heavy" here and heard it once and a while when i was a jw.
as someone who has never even visited bethel, i was wondering if a few of you can fill me in on the details.. i know of course this is an unofficial title, but what is the main factor in reaching this status?
is it mainly given to those who head certain departments, or even work high up in certain departments?
btt for other ex-bethelites to comment.
-- Among the departments that one would not want to screw around with, if he or she desires to climb the ladder: Operations Office (previously the Bethel Office), Personnel Committee, Service Department, Treasurer's Office, Convention Office
So would screwing around with mean just being bad worker? Questioning authority? Is not being a "yes man" enough to get you marked by these heavies?
Or say you catch the eye of someone who wants you to come work in their department. Are you moved based on which "heavy" has more authority?
