Holy Spirit and Governing Body voting
by Think About It inhow in the world can a religious organization that claims to be god's true channel on earth and led my his holy spirit have a majority of it's gb members vote yes on something, but it not pass because 2/3's didn't vote yes?
why would these supposely "spirit annointed" leaders of the "only true religion" not all be lead by holy spirit to pass an important mandate or change?
in coc ray franz talks of jw life affecting voting not passing because although it was a majority, it wasn't 2/3's or a gb member was gone during the vote.

If you had to place a bet on who would be the next Ray Franz...
by Mickey mouse inwhich governing body member would wake up and smell the coffee?.
now since i don't know any of them personally i'm not best qualified to answer this but from what i've read i would choose geoff jackson.
the only strike he has aganst him is the fact that he's a widower; i would think the hope of the resurrection is a pretty strong inducement to ignore what's under your nose.. any other opinions?.

can someone maybe explain that a little?
if this even makes sense, im usually not t his dense, i've been reading this for ever and for some reason i keep getting thrown off track at that part.

I agree with you, MS. I don't think they are wrong. I mean, all this debates are for nothing. All of you must admit - there is no enough historical or archeological evidences for ANY date, whether 607 or 587/6. So? Why to debate about that? I don't see the point.
Yes, actually, I BELIEVE that the 607 date is correct. Is 1914 correct date for.... something in history....? I don't know. And I don't care about that. As a Christian, I have other aims in my live - to imitate my Lord, Jesus Christ, to follow him and to pray for holy spirit. I don't need more (Acts 1:8).

That expression "the land desolate"..... what does it mean? You mean that the Babylonia or the Babylon were desolate?
According to The Cambridge Ancient History, Palmyrene merchants founded a prosperous trading colony in Babylon in 24 A.D.
So, as late as the first century A.D., Babylon was still not completely desolate.
I mean, you are right -- "70 years would end, then the King of babylon would be punished and the land desolate". 70 years ended, and 500 years after that 70 years ended, Babylon was desolate.
Anyway, this is boring debate.
