No, I don't think that would be the case as congregations don't normally know who is getting baptized from other congs until the day of the assembly. There is always pressure from family to get baptized though especially if they are reaching the teenage years. There is also pressure if older siblings got baptized at a certain age or if they are nearing eighteen years of age.

Born in baptisms to avoid embarrassment
by Spoletta ini noticed a recent commenter mention an assembly that had only one baptism, a born in.
the last assembly i went to had three baptisms, of which two were born ins.
could part of the motivation for youth baptism be to avoid the embarrassment of an assembly with no baptisms at all?

While it's true that the power in the organization lies with the men, women seem more emotionally attached to the religion and it's promises than men. Plus, you have to move pretty far up to achieve any real power in the org even a COBE is an unpaid underling to the CO. Many young men would rather just have some level of freedom than put up with it all just to hope to get a title.

No, thanks. Sounds awfully close to getting involved in "worldly" politics to me and the GB have said that we should trust in Jehovah not men or letter writing. LOL

What We Truly Deserve Is...Death, Really WT?
by JW_Rogue ini have seen this statement or similar ones popping up in the study edition of the wt lately.
whenever they talk about undeserved kindness or jesus ransom they add this little gem to get the point across.
this is sick, why do they feel the need to tear down people's self esteem?

Yes, the very notion that ancestors thousands of years back are responsible for me now, just flys in the face of logic.
WHY should I be punished or judged for something I did not do?The bible is very unclear on whether Jehovah punishes future generations for past sins. In the old testament it is clear that he does punish future generations then it morphs into allowing the consequences of sin to take place. Then in the new testament Jesus says that future generations aren't punished by God. However, if we are to believe the creation account Jehovah has been punishing every generation for one sin since the beginning.

What I don't understand is what if there is some suicidal JW reading this stuff and they think "It's true I don't deserve forgiveness, I should kill myself. I've sinned for many years and never approached the Elders about it." They don't worry about those kind of people at all?

Sorry, but I don't buy that either. We came into this world free of sin and we will leave it the same way. Sin is a concept of control and the idea of original sin is even worse. The way WT presents it is to intentionally cut down people's self esteem, to humble them so they can easily be controlled. They will think they are letting God control them when in reality it's just another man made organization.

Does Anyone Know The "Real" Attitude That JWs Have Towards "Inactive Ones"?
by minimus indoes the rank and file or the elders view us as disassociated or disfellowshipped or simply "weak" or possibly a "prodigal son" type?.

Depends on how you respond to their attempts at encouragement. If you play along like you really would like to come back then likely you won't be shunned. If you tell them you are happy and don't plan on coming back then prepare to be shunned by everyone, except maybe your family and a few close friends.

What is having the biggest impact on the watchtower Bible and tract society?
by UnshackleTheChains inhi all.. this is a reasonable question and would love to know what you think is having the biggest impact on watchtower.
there is a plethora of websites talking negatively of watchtower.
there are the never ending court cases regarding child abuse allegations.

The overlapping generations teaching has taken away any sense of urgency from the preaching work. The ARC, congregation mergers, and poor response in the field ministry make it hard to see the work speeding up. JWs are going through the motions (even the ones that believe) just waiting for world events to change. That's why they are so into the Trump presidency, they need something big to happen to confirm their worldview.
