Thanks Drop, that was going to be my comment. Of the 5 JW baptized in my graduation class, including myself, only ONE is still in, 29 years later. To me that is a lot more than 10 percent. Of course, I can name a lot more than just us 4 that has left to add up to a greater percentage. They must be doing some creative math and the sheep are too dumb to figure it out.

Awake!: Sometimes You Just Have To Pick Your Jaw Up Off The Floor
by metatron inah, deception must be so-o-o-o-o-o- easy when you can deal with people who have no critical thinking skills.. an amazing example?
the past november awake magazine !
the cover asks, "is belief in a creator reasonable?".

Changing plans...
by OneDayillBeFree infading,.
ive been going over it so many times in my mind.
it seemed like a great idea before but things have changed, i have changed.. the more i learn and the more awake i become, the more i feel like fading is becoming less and less of an option.. the only reason i wanted to fade was to keep communication with my family, mainly my parents, but i've come to realize that they would shun me either way.

I disagree, Black Sheep. I wanted them to know I rejected them, they did not tell me I was no longer one of them, I told them I didn't want to have anything to do with what they believe and was going to live my own life. If I had just left sooner or later I would have been DF, their decision, not mine. I walked away with my power.

I had already moved out on my own which was unusual for a female JW, especially back in the 80s. Slowly I started doing things like going to R rated movies, but not close to where I lived. Then when I was 25, I just decided that wasn't the way I wanted to live my life and after I had had one elders visit about being inactive, I said screw it and DAd myself. My mother still hasn't gotten over it and would give me a hard time until I finally said screw that too and I haven't called her since July. Basically, I told my mom I had done my research and I wouldn't be back because I now knew too much. Yep, I came out as an apostate.
Good Luck to you! I hope everything works out for the best and you don't find yourself on the street. My oldest son did ask me yesterday what would happen to a JW youth that didn't want to attend meeting and all that stuff. I told him it would depend on the parents, but I knew that my parents would have kicked me out, if I hadn't been living on my own already.

Our latest "Gee it's great not to be a JW" moment. Share yours!
by Open mind inrecently my son had a minor injury that required a trip to the emergency room.
the admitting nurse asked us a ton of questions and then this:.
nurse: do you have a religion?.

Openly buying whatever book I want to at the book store. Seeing any movie at the theater, etc.
Finally Awake
Enjoy the books and the Wizarding World. It provided me the goal to lose weight before they made it so more people can fit on the ride. Really funny in 90 degree weather to see the buildings with "snow" and all the tourists running around in wizard robes.

why can't we get shows like star trek anymore?
by cptkirk inseems like the original star trek was almost universally enjoyed.
from the kooky music theme 'space.....ahhhhh ahhhh ahhh ahhhhhhhh ahhh', the upbeat message, the deep subject matter...the chemistry of the characters.
you remember being much younger almost felt like not a care in the world?

Zid
Firefly was the orginal series that Serenity ties up. Stars Nathan Fillion and the alien chick on the new V. Joss Whedon created it, he also did Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Watch Firefly BEFORE Serenity!
I really didn't care about TOS, more a fan of TNG, DS9 and Enterprise. (Enterprise had the hottest guys.) i think my dislike of TOS is because my father really liked it.

If you haven't seen it check out "Firefly" available on Netflix and showing on the Science channel. Only 14 shows and a 2 hour tie everything up movie, but it was really good.
I agree with Eureka and Warehouse 13, but wish warehouse would get back to more stuff seems like it could be real artifacts with special absorbed powers. Lately all these bad guys wreaking havoc storylines are getting on my nerves. Anthony Michael Hall makes a great bad guy, though.

Another vote for Love, Actually. Especially the Naked Couple and don't forget to watch the deleted scenes. The one with Bernard's Christmas wish, why did they have to cut that?!!!!

I have to ask... How is The Philadephia Story a Christmas movie? Swimming outside in Philadephia at Christmas time, I don't think so. The presents were wedding presents. But any movie with Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart I will watch anytime.
The Nightmare before Christmas should be added.
