why can't we get shows like star trek anymore?
by cptkirk inseems like the original star trek was almost universally enjoyed.
from the kooky music theme 'space.....ahhhhh ahhhh ahhh ahhhhhhhh ahhh', the upbeat message, the deep subject matter...the chemistry of the characters.
you remember being much younger almost felt like not a care in the world?

Firefly was the orginal series that Serenity ties up. Stars Nathan Fillion and the alien chick on the new V. Joss Whedon created it, he also did Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Watch Firefly BEFORE Serenity!
I really didn't care about TOS, more a fan of TNG, DS9 and Enterprise. (Enterprise had the hottest guys.) i think my dislike of TOS is because my father really liked it.

If you haven't seen it check out "Firefly" available on Netflix and showing on the Science channel. Only 14 shows and a 2 hour tie everything up movie, but it was really good.
I agree with Eureka and Warehouse 13, but wish warehouse would get back to more stuff seems like it could be real artifacts with special absorbed powers. Lately all these bad guys wreaking havoc storylines are getting on my nerves. Anthony Michael Hall makes a great bad guy, though.

Another vote for Love, Actually. Especially the Naked Couple and don't forget to watch the deleted scenes. The one with Bernard's Christmas wish, why did they have to cut that?!!!!

I have to ask... How is The Philadephia Story a Christmas movie? Swimming outside in Philadephia at Christmas time, I don't think so. The presents were wedding presents. But any movie with Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart I will watch anytime.
The Nightmare before Christmas should be added.

Disgusting talk about disfellowshipped children...
by Morbidzbaby inhttp://www.archive.org/details/spirituallydeadchildren.
you have to be fucking kidding me... this is mind control at it's best.
encouraging parents to ignore their kids who have left the jw's and blaming the kids themselves for the rift that's caused.

Wow, Morbidzbaby, have you been talking to my mother?
This is about how every conversation I have had with her ends. I don't understand how hard it is on her and it seems it is harder on those still in than those of us who have left, sob, sob. I have stuck to my guns and not called her now for about 5 months. I was calling about once a month after my father died just to check on her (she is 70), but then there was that July watchtower study, so screw it.

Never had them stay at our house when I was still at home. But one time when my mom was out in service with them, they stopped at our house The wife saw one of my Harlequin romances (I know, these were my one vice, but my mom got me hooked at 10 years old) The wife said how terrible they were and that they lead to DF, etc. So then I had to start hiding them from my mom. I love going into a bookstore and buying whatever type of book I damn well please!

Was The Internet The Clincher For You To Mentally Leave The Organization?
by minimus ini think it was for me.. i knew a lot of the history of the bible students, russell, rutherford and the "old light".
.
once i could see all of the overwhelming evidence right in front of my eyes, there was no ignoring the reality..

Since I left in 1990, the internet had nothing to do with it. But it has helped me to find out that I am not alone and reconnect with friends and family that have also left. For the first time ever, I have family to spend the holidays with. Yep, love the internet!

Memorial 1991. Since then, my father's funeral. I am thinking about whether I will attend my mother's funeral when the time comes. I really can't say why I went to my father's, maybe because it was expected. It was all I could do to sit there and not rise up and tell the elder speaking who the hell did he think he was talking about? My father? You don't show love by hit and shouting and abusing your family members.
