apparently it's "widely-known" that i'm gay and some jws have even told my mum that it's not wise to invite me because it will make other people (jws) feel uncomfortable.

Thanks for all your advice everyone and I will be really nice. But don't think my mum is necessarily liberal as she puts a lot of JW stuff before me and my brother and it's really disheartening to know she puts her flimsy religion ahead of her own children, but I think she's getting the message slowly but surely that the religion isn't all it's cracked up to be.
And just to let you know, I'm a girl :D

It's because my mum asked an elder to marry them but he refused because my brother is also gay and still lives at home with my mum. He's not DF'd or anything but just fallen away (or kicked out because he's gay). So mum had this big issue and decided not to have it in a KH and not to invite any JWs. But because the groom's got family in the religion she had to invite them and then forgot about her "policy" on no JWs and went and invited 40 others lol.

So I have to go to my mum's JW wedding in 2 weeks. It's not in a KH but there's still going to be about 40 JWs there. Apparently it's "widely-known" that I'm gay and some JWs have even told my mum that it's not wise to invite me because it will make other people (JWs) feel uncomfortable. My mum just told them to go away but even she told me that I shouldn't be lovey dovey with my partner (who's also invited).
I'm just wondering whether I should kill them with kindness as it were and make them wonder why I'm so nice even though I'm a worldly sinner. Or whether to call them homophobes and wish them a merry christmas before I storm out in principle.

hahaha i totally remember my mum seeing lovely greetings cards but as soon as she saw a horse shoe on it she would put it straight back on the shelf.

I was raised in the religion. My dad left and came back when he married my mum and they came back in to it as I was being born. Shame.
this past weekend i attended the circuit assembly, and on the sunday they were interviewing a couple on the secrets to a successful marriage.
the first question asked by the speaker was, "how long have you 2 been married?
" the reply was 20 years....and 1 day.
Yeah we always had the stupid brothers and sisters anniversarys in the KH diary pretty much. And it was always the strongest families in the truth that got the biggest celebration. One family had its whole generation in the truth and the grandparents had there one thousandth anniversary and all the children and grandchildren learnt Morris dancing becuase the grand dad's name was Morris!!!!
They hired a hall, all the sisters made cakes (because that's all they're scripturally allowed to do) and the brothers put on the hard part, the entertainment, ya know with all the gadgets and equipment i.e. a CD Player.
They even rehearsed and performed plays and shows based on biblical stories.
prior to my fade i grew a goatee and, as was expected, most of the folks at the hall threw a fit.
but then one brother asked me something.
he said "is it worse for you to let something grow on your face that would do so naturally if it were not for shaving it, or would it be worse for a printing corporation to alter the historical jesus by portraying him in countless instances as a beardless fellow in order to promote their view of what a 'good witness' should look like?

I remember wearing a really short mini skirt just before I left.
I knew I hated the religion and I wanted to make a point, but I wasn't brave enough to wear it to the KH so I wore it to a Sign Language lesson instead at which I knew 3 or 4 bro's and sisters would be there.
At the next meeting, the MS who was in the lesson, came up to me and said: "Sarah can I have a word. It's about your choice of dress on Tuesday night at BSL class. Now I know the world may be taking it's toll on you but you mustn't let little things like short skirts lead you away, it's very dangerous and can lead to other, more serious, things."
i know it was over ten years but it occured today that it was the first time i was shocked by the reaction of the the dubs.
the general opinion seemed to be that yes it was "sad" ... but actauly it was very good news that she had been killed now, because that meant that she would get a resserection!
and of course seeing that she had led such an immoral life, she would never have survived armargeddon had she lived!.
Wow I can't believe that. I don't recall what happened in my cong. I remember my mum being shocked and sad and to this day she watches everything on TV about Diana. I don't think our cong was that bothered :S
