Need some support
by ~Jen~ ini don't post very often but i'm in need of some support.. i left my husband and the jw's back in the summer.
we have 3 kids and have joint custody of them.. i've spoken to my family once - back in the fall and it was a great conversation - my parents (dad is an elder) said that they just wanted me to be happy however that is.. last week i got a voicemail from my mom saying that she loved me and thought about me every day.
i was so happy.

Nelly136 makes a good point too. If you left over doctrine, you would have ruined their life. If you left for smoking, you would have ruined their life. drugs, ruined their life. boredom, ruined their life. See the pattern. Don't let them force you to believe this bs. You are a human being, and have a right to believe and do whatever you damn well please, short of breaking the law. Keep fighting. Life outside is worth it.

Hi Jen,
I am so sorry about your situation. I speak for all of us here who have family in when I say I know how you feel. It is very difficult.
Are you seeing a therapist? I have to say, I'm seeing one right now, and that is hands down the best thing I could have done for myself. Mom pretty much told me I ruined her life too. I would recommend finding a therapist to talk to. At your work, do you have EAP, Employee Assistance Program? I do where I work, and I know it's fairly common. I get 5 free 1 hour sessions with my therapist. I highly recommend looking into that. Again, we know what it's like. If you need to talk, I/we are here to help. You will get through this. And you will be better for it.
I was thinking too, you must be a pretty damn influential person. I never knew one person could ruin the whole lives of so many people......Not. No one has that much power. You are not responsible for how they react. You are not responsible for how they treat you. They are adults, and they make their own choices and react how they want. Nobody, nobody has that much power. There are exceptions to this obviously, i.e. pedophiles, serial killers, etc. You are not in the list of exceptions. And you never will be. Don't believe it for a minute. Do not let them make you believe you ruined their lives. And as far as your children, you're doing them a favor by giving them an option. Hang in there. We're here for you.

"Youth book" said 97% of teenagers Masturbate...but none of them are Witnesses! Is this unrealistic?
by Witness 007 in"youth" book and "young people ask" admitts that 97% boys and 92% of girls masturbate but of course none of the holy decent witness teenagers would ever do such a thing and earn jehovahs anger!
how realistic is this?

I did it. My JW friend did it. 2 other of my JW friends did it. Regulary, I might add. Had a bad conscience for a long time, then I just stopped caring. Funny how I'm not homosexual. I must be one of the rare cases....

Did You Know A Lot Of "Very Intelligent" JWs?
by minimus inin my lifetime of knowing jehovah's witnesses, i recognized very few as being extremely intelligent.
most seemed to just go along with the program.. i noticed we have a number of "very intelligent" exjws here..

Ah this was actually one of the hardest things I struggled with when leaving. I know 2 brothers who are extremely intelligent. One of them has the entire library that the WT has ever printed, and has read the majority of it. He is fluent in Greek, and has a cursory knowledge of Hebrew. We are talking walking encyclopedia here. You could say hey what year was this article printed in and he could tell you the page number of the bound volume. I struggled a lot with this because I thought if this person was so smart and was still a witness, there must be something wrong with me. This elder could literally knock your socks off with the knowledge he had. I think there must have been other reasons for him to stay. I just don't know. That still bugs me sometimes.
The other elder was not so much book smart (He was it just wasn't the oustanding thing about him) as much as he had the ability to see through any B.S. People could tell him there reasons for doing certain things, and he would be like "That's not why you're doing it." And then proceed to slice your B.S. argument to pieces. He was an extremely convincing elder. And very gifted in his abilities to persuade. He also owns a multi-million dollar business that he built from the ground up. It spans literally the entire northern state of Colorado, including all of the Denver area.
The WT has some smart people. In fact, Hassan's book shows that cults specifically seek out smart people to recruit. The WT just happens to be very good at providing motivation to see them in a certain light.
Personally I don't think being very intelligent plays as large a roll as people think when it comes to cults like the JW's. My 2 cents

The Isaiah books were the bane of my existence. I hated those books. God they sucked. They were the most boring repetitive pieces of trash I have ever read in my life. I don't think words could possibly describe how much I hated those books. Israel does bad stuff, gets punished, Big J welcomes 'em back.... Lather, rinse, repeat.

Are you male or female? If your female, I would not, as I would most likely have to spend more than 2 hours alone with you, and we would surely rip each others clothes off and let our raging hormones go at it.
Of course, if your male, I probably wouldn't either. We all know two males 100 miles from nowhere pinned under a tree could get into a lot of trouble. Evidently, it happens all the time.

What would you all do in this situation?
