Deut 10:15
"But only to your forefathers did Jehovah draw close and express his love, and he has chosen you, their offspring,"
So Jehovah selects a particular group for special favour.
Just two verses later we read
Deut 10:17
"For Jehovah your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the God great, mighty, and awe-inspiring, who treats none with partiality and does not accept a bribe"

Apathy trollies, I quite like the name but I still refer to the street cart method as the Manhattan Project.

what kind of music does an atheist have at their funeral
by loosie inyesterday was the day my family went out to the cemetary in my dad's home town to clean up the headstone and leave flowers and such.
now this town is small and rural.
afterwards we went back to the community center for the annual potluck.

Not A Captive.
Yes, Ashoken Farewell would do well at mine. Good taste. I'm a bit of a folky too.

I've selected a few tracks for when I pop my cloggs but am still working on it, I think I've got time to finalise the list yet. Some tunes are there to be poignant and others to be absurd, all are favourite tunes, but from a narrow selection of my tastes. Hopefully any wake will be a little more diverse. I've lost my old playlist which was more complete than this. I think most people will be none the wiser as they're all pretty obscure tunes...sorry.
Julie Murphy and Dylan Fowler - Y Bachan Main (favourite song with simple arrangement)
Yann Tiersen - Le Valse Des Monstres (theme from Amelie just because I like it)
Pink Floyd - Goodbye Cruel World (for a short interlude)
Ewan MacColl - It's Goodbye Now... (pre funeral)
Scott Walker - Funeral Tango (pre eulogy nonsense)
Scott Walker - My Death (post eulogy nonsense)
June Tabor - Lay This Body Down (for the lowering - very poignant)
Syd Dale - Stanley Steamer 1 and 2 (for the carrying the coffin parts or cortege played bloody loud to give passers by a laugh)
Mahalia Jackson - Walk In Jerusalem (not because I'm religious, but to get them dancing in the aisles)

Need help picking an engagement ring
by Cagefighter inladies please weigh in.... i am seriously thinking about buying an engagment this summer.
first, we are both early 30's make about the same roughly (50k) a year.. i am thinking getting a decent quality diamond .90 carat on a platinum ring... seems to be about $3800-4500k price wise.. please be honest..... i saw the ring her x gave her.. it was yellow gold with a white gold top where some side stones were and a .66 to center stone was set that was a "gift".
granted she picked it out.. 1. my ring must be way better than the one her x gave her.. 2. i won't propose without a ring so taking her to pick on out is not an option.

Unfortunately I've no advice on the ring itself. Just a cautionary tale on how not to propose.
I worked in a restaurant/nightclub a few years ago. One evening a couple came in. They seemed to have been out for the evening already when they arrived. The boyfriend of the couple made a few trips to the bar and each time downed a double at the bar whilst waiting for his drinks. It was noted by the bar staff that the body language was getting tense at their table. Raised voices were noted a while later, followed by a full blown shouting match. By the time staff approached to calm the situation the female was sat at the table in tears whilst the male was angrily walking around shouting whilst scanning the floor behind his girlfriend. The whole episode had clearly disturbed nearby diners. A member of door staff tried to calm the boyfriend, asking him to step outside to calm down and explain the problem. He refused and continued shouting and ended up being forcibly ejected. Outside he still wouldn't calm down and there was no way he could be let in until his attitude was more measured and not liable to disturb everybody in the building. Instead he picked a fight with the door staff, this was noted by passing police and he was arrested and taken to the police station without his girlfriend.Meanwhile other staff comforted the girlfriend and got her to explain what had occured. It transpired that he was drinking so heavily to pluck up the courage to propose. He'd clearly misjudged and his girlfriend was at best noncommital. This led to the argument and in his anger he threw the engagement ring at his girlfriend but missed her completely. He had been wandering around looking for the ring. It should have been somewhere on the floor, though several thorough searches of the area yielded no ring. It was never found, at least not by the couple or by staff.
What had started out as a plan for a romantic night out culminating in a proposal of marriage, ended in drunkenness, anger, argument, loss of an expensive engagement ring and arrest. Whether they ever got it together and now laugh at the events of that night I don't know. It certainly could have gone more smoothly.
Hopefully whatever ring you choose, you'll get the response you desire. Just remember, one drink to stiffen your resolve should be enough. Good luck.

OK, not Dio, but a guy who drummed with him for a while. Richard Baxter seems to have been doing this a few days of the week in Ottawa for many years now whilst running a studio and playing in a drum line marching band for fun.
