  i had the intention of taking an overdose the other day.

  to be perfectly honest, i was drunk out of my mind when i wrote my last post, and someone i knew gave me all kind of pills to take.

  Obviously Russia's bribes to the 22 great and good of FIFA were bigger than ours.

  FIFA are a bunch of crooks, there was a documentary on Monday evening exposing 10s of millions of bribes to FIFA. I also think there is a real danger that Russian mafia will interfere in the competition.

  Science is incompatible with a view of the bible that assumes it is anything other than a book of human origin.

  Dead people don't wake up, nobody walks on water, axe heads don't float, the sun didn't stand still for 24 hours, there never was a global flood, the human population was not reduced to 8 people 4000 years ago etc etc

  When somebody insists that these things and hundreds of other similar stories actually did happen they are making unscientific statements.

  Which raises an ethical dlemma - if it is true that religious belief results in healthier children, does that make it right to saddle them with a superstitious worldview?

  Personally I think not. Truth is always to be preferred even if it is less comforting.

  I think what the numbers in the survey shows is that indoctrinating children to believe they are being watched by a sky daddy and perhaps will burn in hell if they misbehave has a surprisingly marginal effect on their behaviour.

  I do believe that indoctrination of children is abuse.
