Wondrous expansion is now taking place...
I asked a JW why there was little or no growth. He said it was a sign the end was so close. I said "that's strange, when I was a pioneer it was rapid increase that was a sign the end was so close".
there was a letter read this week, followed by a talk about all the changes that are coming in the next couple of months regarding merging congregations in the area (va/md/dc) - the letter said that the kh's in the area are only being filled to 48% capacity.
this was music to my ears as i have noticed the decline in attendance in all the neighboring congregations.
they will sell some kingdom halls and merge some congregations.

i wasn't entirely sure what to expect when i made the decision to tell my parents how i really feel, but i was prepared for the worst, fortunately, it didn't come to that.
after i told them i didn't want to go to the meetings anymore it led to a long talk with them.
they made a number of irksome and woefully uninformed statements but at least they were not aggressive and have said that they won't force me to move out over this, though, i can tell they are hoping they can convince me to "accept the truth," as long as i still live with them.
Well done on planning ahead for moving out Saethydd. It will no doubt be stressful but you have lots of opportunities ahead.
i personally would like to see they get the very best but haven't a clue how to do it what are your benevolent words of wisdom, should a person do a deep research on his own a kind of self medication or should they brush up on some psychology,, who should they trust because after you leave you got big trust issues.. i don't know about you but to me it was a real shocker, i was totally into getting their worthless bull shit out of my head.
i choose the self medicate path and did as must research as time would allow,, science was a biggie for me, it was enjoyable learning to get so much bull shit out of my head..
No. I would prefer that the cult implode than reform.

it would be good for all concerned if JWs stopped shunning, for example. I would hope we would all welcome that change if it happens
No not really. I would want nothing to do with so-called friends and family shun or stop shunning as instructed by cult leaders.

I hope things improve. I think that's what we should all hope - SBF
Please don't presume to tell me what I "should" hope for.
I hope for the cult's total eradication.

There is not one single thing about the Watchtower organisation or its teachings that could sensibly be described as true, helpful or good.
In many important respects JWs have a clearer idea than many others - about not taking part in wars for example
Pacifism is morally indefensible.
Or the importance of the divine name
Jesus did not use it. To call god "Abba, Father" is the heart of the christian gospel.
new wt just came out.
about self control.
by the way looking at outlines the word disfelowshipped not in there 52 outlines.
Eh?
few things draw my interest as much as people on this board who talk about the elders, the insidious little toadies who lurk around kingdom halls, the proverbial big fish in little ponds.
it amazes me the terror and the veneration they inspire, as well as the occasional ridicule.
it makes me wonder how they're selected and whether most of them come into the position with a sense of power, entitlement, authority and control, or whether many of them are pretty nice people and that i'm just hearing about the bad apples?
Abusive and power hungry elders are not in the majority. Most are sincere believers who are put on to do far more than is reasonably possible.
Combining work family life and congregation duties is a ridiculous burden for most. Every congregation has its fair share of whingers who expect elders to be at their beck and call to sort out all their personal problems. The branch make unreasonable demands on elders. Elder's wives and children pay the price.
A minority are guilty of abusing their power.
i am asking this questions due to the teachings, beliefs and practices of different religions..
Your question "is there truth in religion" is a bit vague.
Did Jesus rise from the dead? No
Did Mohammed ascend to heaven on a winged horse? No
Is there any truth or value in any aspect of religion? Probably.
the reasoning behind the thread''s title was developed by a team looking at the teaching of evolution.
"the team, led by professor laurence hurst at the milner centre for evolution, university of bath hypothesised that since core concepts of genetics (such as dna and mutation) are so intimately linked to the core concepts of evolution, then priming students with genetics information might help their understanding of evolution.

If there was not one single fossil and no other evidence of any kind evolution would be proven beyond all doubt on the basis of genetics alone.
