What does the West get out of it?
Putin is hurting by his abject failure to sweep through Ukraine as he believed he would. His military weakness has been exposed. Thousands of Russian military personnel - including senior officers - are dead and billions of dollars worth of his hardware is destroyed. Not one American or British soldier has died. Bargain of the century.
I understand what Ukraine gets out of it - lots of free military hardware costing billions of pounds/dollars.
It's not like they are putting the weapons in a cupboard and counting them every night like they were gold coins. They are using them to hurt Putin at the cost of Ukrainian lives. Many of them knew as much about combat a year ago as you and I do.
Let's imagine that in 5 years time, Argentina invades the Falklands. Would Ukraine give us some military hardware and equipment, or help us in some other way?
Unless Argentina posed a threat to the security of Ukraine probably not.
Putin and Xi are the main enemies of liberal democracy and freedom. Ukraine is Putin's biggest problem.

Have a read at the following article by Dr Neil Melvin, Director International Security Studies at the Royal United Services Institute, former senior adviser at the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Energy Charter, the European Union and the United Nations.
Nationalist and Imperial Thinking Define Putin's Vision for Russia..
"Putin has become convinced that his historic role is not just to overcome the end of the Soviet Union, but to undo the Bolshevik nationalities policies that laid the foundations for the contemporary state system of Eurasia."

Putin wants all of Ukraine and if he gets that the Balkans are next.
The spirit of Neville Chamberlain has risen.

Shaking hundreds of hands every week: are JWs the only ones?
by psyco inwe know that with our hands we touch what everybody else does: money, handles, buttons, etc.. we also know for sure, since the xix century, that our hands carry bacteria and germs causing serious illnesses because of that.. despite more than 25,000 jws dying because of the covid, showing they are not immune, they were proudly declaring how good they were in handling this pandemic.. now, jws have started to shake hundreds of hands per week at their meetings, like before, even if covid is not over yet demonstrating hygiene knowledge back to medieval times.. i am wondering: are they the only religion/community/group still doing this or others are doing the same?.

Keep your hands out of your mouth and shaking hands is no problem. 99.9999% of covid infection was through aerosol inhalation. Masks, anti-bac, cleaning surfaces, avoiding touching family and friends made almost no difference.
