this afternoon i drove by an old hall i attended ( barrington illinois) and noticed that it had been sold, it is now an adventist .

now here is my drive-home thinking.. back in the 80's when i attended i was newly married, and had a young child.

I was associated with the Palatine Kingdom Hall and currently live in Palatine. a pimo elder is in the middle of an event where a former co allegedly kissed a brother from another hall.. the co denied it so the other elders are frustrated because they can't have a judicial meeting.

If an opposite-sex couple kiss, both are JWs, truly single, and it was consensual, even if they weren't officially dating, I don't believe any action would take place, although they would probably be warned that kissing might lead to more. However, if one was a JW and the other a non-JW, although it's not likely the JW would get disfellowshipped (although I suppose anything is possible), the JW would likely be reprimanded. No dating (including no kissing) outside of the faith and only in a serious dating relationship leading to marriage.
With the same-sex couple who only kiss, are both JWs, truly single, and it was consensual, and the elder body heard about it, there's no doubt that there would be a witch hunt with an attempt to bring them before a judicial committee. I think they might at minimum be privately reproved, but if one or both appeared to be unrepentant - even over only a kiss - certainly the elders could find a way to disfellowship one or both of them.
Perhaps those who have more recently been elders can give their perspective.

i am hoping this move will be one of the last that i have to make - i have moved frequently in my life - at least for a long, long while.. the apartment i like the least is in a town and a location that i love due to my history with, and connection to the area.

I recently passed it by and it appeared there was a new sign in place. Yesterday I decided to pull into the parking lot on my way home, and it appears that the hall has been sold and is now occupied by Seventh Day Adventists (I did a check online when I got home). A listing that advertised the Barrington Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses said below it: "Permanently Closed."
I am wondering if anyone on this site knows if that congregation is building a new hall or if they have been absorbed into other local Kingdom Hall.

thirteen years ago you commented on an idea circulating among some jws prior to 1975, that there was a possibility that armageddon survivors might not be able to marry.. "these vows that honor god are used—not from the bible but the only ones sanctioned by the wts.. for as long as we both shall live together on earth according to god's marital arrangement.. when i was in my 20’s, many jws interpreted this to mean that at some point in the 'new system' marriage would end.
since this was shortly before 1975, many jws rushed to get married worried that they would never have the chance (and never have the chance to have sex.

I had seen the references to the possibility of some resurrected ones marrying, but my question is specifically in regard to SURVIVORS of Armageddon.
It appears that iwantoutnow and truth_b_known had both heard similar ideas floating around the JWs. It is probably true that there was nothing clearly stated in the publications. This idea may have been started by some speaker veering from the script. But, what I find interesting is that there were others from the '70s that heard this same line of thought.
