Lots of Witnesses are on FB. I think it's ok as long as they vet their friends and use their page to "Praise Jah" and preach. Its a "if you can't beat them join them" type of leniency on the part of the organization I think... besides, it allows for a lot more spying on JWs by the elders and other dobbing JWs!

'Giving Attention to the Needs of the Circuit.' Sooo uplifting...
by whereami inthese people just love instiling guilt on these poor souls.. .
at a recent circuit assembly a circuit overseer gave an awesome talk during the portion, 'giving attention to the needs of the circuit.
and with such a high pricetag, please don't let it be empty.

The idea of talks on meeting attendance is to get the attendees to hound and guilt the non-attendees with the "counsel" given in these talk to get them back to the hall!

We just had our C.O. visit too. What a wonderful talk on the rsurrection. Our C.O. chose song 111 and we nearly all had tears in our eyes when we got to the chorus where it says "I will call, the dead will answer.." So beautiful. Thanks Jehovah for your wonderful promise of a resurrection.

New light: Generation
by 5thGeneration ingot some info from the annual meeting.. unofficially, the 'generation' is now categorized as 2 groups.
the first is 'the 1914 group' and the second is the younger anointed 'contemporaries' who 'actually work for a period of time with those anointed ones'.. the 'generation' is now 'the lifespan of those who actually saw the beginning of the sign and then the lifespan of those who worked with those who saw the beginning of the sign'.. here we go again....

I really don't understand why they would change the current "Generation are the annointed" explanation. It's perfect, it allows the generation to continue indefinitely.
In order for them to change it, there has obviously been some backlash from within, with regard to the Feb 09 WT announcing the change. They must have figured that "this generation will by no means pass away" is meaningless when it refers to the annointed and people (JWs) are now allowed to become annointed again. They must have realised this means there is no imminent end! They need a sense of urgency!! So we need to tie the generation dogma to dates pointing to our current time period. Its an end times prediction all over again just more subtle.
Surely they would have more credibility if they stuck to the last "new light" for more than a year... but why bother when all the R&F accept everything that comes from the WT.
Maybe I should tell my family what I believe the generation teaching should be and explain this new view, then when they see it in the WT they'll wonder how I was ahead of the org, maybe I'm inspired
I did the same kinda thing with the last new light, I pointed to the 1915 view on the generation knowing that it was to be printed in their WT a month later. I was thinking "Yay now they'll see the WT has gone around in a complete circle". Nothing... They didn't even seem to notice
My mother is one of the "they have everything else right" crowd.

Just watched 'knocking' Doco on JW on SBS TV. an irony
by Aussie Oz injust watched this documentary on our local tv.
among all the issues touched on, one really stood out to me.. the elderly jw man, who survived the concentration camps as a jew, who became a jw after observing them in the camp was reuniting his two sides of family.
the jw and his jewish daughters family.

I can't believe I missed it! I was just talking to DH about it on Saturday, that I wondered if it would ever air in Aus, and then it id and I didn't know! I heard its all pro JW and leaves out many facts so would probably make me mad anyway, but would like to know in case my family ever tries to suggest it as some sort of argument to their side. However, I guess no JWs would have seen it since it was on Sunday morning anyway!
