CONGRATULATIONS!!!
(You know qualify for membership in the only group more feared than apostates: college graduates!)
i have heard this jw argument before which explains away some of the scriptures alluding to everyone going to heaven but i was on jwfacts, 144,000 section and saw that belief no where in there.
.
has anyone done any research to debunk that theory?.
There was a Watchtower sometime since August 2009 ( I know that's really specific, sorry, bad memory) that clarifies that the great crowd can enjoy the benefits and assocation with the annointed.
The great crowd doesn't have a mediator since they're not apart of the new Jerusalem and new covenant... which makes no sense.
The GB is essentially throwing in for Calvin's Limited Attonement and declaring they know the specific number of the elect!
It's BS, through and through.
They have to consult the new elders book first.
i'm letting everyone know, (especially all of the people i usually pm), that i'l be off line probably until this weekend.
my dear husband is in the hospital, so i'll be spending most of my time there with him.
things are going well so far.
Aw, good news!
Hope all goes well; keep you and your husband in my thoughts and prayers!
why didn't we ever care about checking whether or not the nwt was "the most reliable bible on the planet.
" such an audacious claim and it didn't spark much investigations.. (not saying no one did check it, just seems the vast majority never did, at least not for a long time).. so here we all were, with this unverified and propietary bible using it as the word of god to teach about the meaning of life?.
-sab.
Reading it now alongside other translations and occasionally with the greek, some NWT passages are translated with odd wording that makes the meaning less than clear, especially in the NT and in passages where it seems to speak to trinity, hellfire, or immortal soul.
Like good dubs, though, when we ran into that, we just consulted the WT for clarification, and voila! Jehovah's spirit guided us through the odd parts.
let us know what got you questioning wbts in the first place.
i've got a theory that it starts with people hurting us and only then does the "apostate" turn to looking at the beliefs.. anybody who started questioning beliefs first?.
I'm asking if you had a bad experience with a brother or sister and then started questioning... or if you just started questioning doctrine first.

from the january 2011 kool aid edition wt:.
paragraph 8: "still, as a people, the chosen ones and their loyal companions will physically survive the end of apostate christendom by taking refuge in jehovah and his mountainlike organization.".
paragraph 9: "christendom deserves the coming destruction for contributing to the spiritual illiteracy common among churchgoers and for its manifest hatred of gods name.".
I found a Jewish professor of religious history at my university... I think I'm going to go have a little chat with him.
watch this video and notice how the jw does not want someone to show him anything in the bible that is contrary to what he already believes...whether the trinity doctrine is correct or not is no my issue with this video.
the person recording asks directly, "would you be willing to let me show you where jesus is called jehovah or almighty god in the bible?
" the jw says, "no, that would just cause me to doubt my beliefs.
There are people like this older man in every faith.
Remember when you used to go in service and lament how unwilling people were to listen; how they were happy with what they believed even though you said you could show them otherwise?
This is a common attitude.
at one point in the jc recording, the "apostate" (i think his name is rick) states that the kingdom was established on pentecost, based on mark 9 where jesus says "i tell you some standing here will not taste death until they see the kingdom coming.".
the elders say this was the transfiguration.
rick states jesus didn't say it would be a vision; the transfiguration was a vision.. can someone please elaborate on this idea with scriptures?.
