Welcome! I was shaking in my boots the first time I posted here. Seems silly looking back now, but most of us were there at one point.
Look forward to hearing from you some more!

a friend disassociated in order to get divorced, hoping not to get disfellowshipped.
some time later, he has a serious non-jw girlfriend whom he'll probably end up marrying.
the thing is, he didn't disassociate because he no longer believed the wt doctrines.

'Elders disfellowship 50,000 to 60,000 Witnesses around the world each year, Brown said. '
'Each year, Brown said, 30,000 to 40,000 are reinstated, having "come back to their spiritual senses."'
ahhhh!!!
lately it enrages me to read all the bs on the watchower!!!!!!!
when i started my fade i felt sad and quietly resentful, but now i'm just flat-out angry!!!!.
Welcome to Level 2!
Not everyone goes through every stage of grief when they have lost something, but the feelings are normal and things will eventually settle and you will be able to move on.

When I researched the amount disfellowshipped each year, I saw a statement from JR Brown that about 1/2 the number DF'd per year come back...
Not sure about DA'd. I would think it has a lower return rate than DF'd.
these comments are from the jw.org website and it's clear from this that they think they are above the law.
the court of appeals acknowledged that even if the woman felt distress because former acquaintances chose not to converse with her, "permitting her to recover for intangible or emotional injuries would unconstitutionally restrict the jehovah's witnesses free exercise of religion .
the constitutional guarantee of the free exercise of religion requires that society tolerate the type of harms suffered by [her] as a price well worth paying to safeguard the right of religious difference that all citizens enjoy.

a lot of talk has centered around information dispensed at the recent km schools.
many brothers feel there is a "tightening up" taking place.
i had a recent experience that you may find interesting.. after the meeting i was working with our cobe on some congregation tasks when out of nowhere he said, "have you looked up any extra information about higher education since the km school?
I think Fingers point is that if JWs really beileved everything the GB teaches, then higher education would not be an issue in their minds.

Either you believe the end is near or you dont and if you dont then you do not support the view of the GB
At the KMS school, this statement (or close to) was made: some go to higher education to prove the Governing Body wrong...
That would be a pretty stupid motivation to go to higher education, so I found this statement quite bizarre. Bottom line, the Governing Body seem to perceive attending higher education as a challenge or questioning of their authority.

At the Kingdom Ministry School I attended they said the Elders qualifications would be reviewed.
They gave a list of requirements, that if met, would not mean ineligibility for an Elder (ie. person going has spiritual goals, attends meetings, regular in ministry, etc).
@Franklin Massey, PM me if you want more details on the exact wording used in that part.
i've overheard from a couple of elders, that they are going to be getting some new information on the blood issue.
now,i understand in the witness world, this could all be much ado about nothing.
but, does anyone know what this info could be?.
@compound complex, thank you for the reference. Can you list the full name of the reference? TFP of TWTS?
this is my very first post here at jwn.
i have been "lurking" here for a few months as i have slowly faded over the past year.
so i figured it was time to become a full blown jw opposer, and i tell you it couldnt feel better!.
Welcome! Look forward to hearing your story. You don't have to be a full-blown JW opposer to join here. It's one of the few places a JW can openly discuss issues without fear of sanctions.
