my witness mate says he's going to go to the philippines to find himself a witness wife....i've seen a number of them here with much older men....sometimes they have kids and all........what you think?

I am sure it works for some people, but buying a wife doesn't sound like the best way to start a relationship to me.

how long in truth,,,what was the final "straw"

i was in for 30 years.....my ex was an elder...."holy spirit appointed" he tortured me....i was married 33+ years....you know,,,marriage is sacred...you can leave,,,i know,,,,if abuse is intolerable....but that starts a series of events...etc etc etc....i finally left everything...and moved far away.....people actually believe "holy spirit" appoints people,,,my ex would not pray unless there was an audience...you know,,,,people invited over for supper kind of thing,,,you get the point..... my best friend had a mental breakdown,,,,she basically became psychotic.....had to be hospitalized....she took up smoking,,,got disfellowshipped...and lost all emotional support....to this day,,,,as far as i know,,,she is still disfellowshipped...needs to be hospitialized every so often....she is on complete disability.....and still trying to get back into the org....her mother does support some what,,,,even though she is a witness herself,,,,,takes her to assemblies,,,,memorial,,,etc,,,,this has gone on for years.....she cannot mentally handle the organization,,,nor can she mentally handle not being a witness...lost everything....guilt....etc..... did not mean to ramble on so much......i have mental scars that will not go away....because i stayed in a "mess" for god,,,,i could write page after page of things like the above....as being my "last straw".......curious about you here on the board....any specific "breaking point" or a collection of many things..... thanks for your in put...peaches.

Born in and floated out and then back in over a 30 plus year period.

I stopped going to meetings due to the hypocrisy and double standards.

Stopped believing completely when my sister told me what the org really was.

What was your initial reaction to finding out the religion is a cult?

mine was filled with shock and anger but mostly anger.

it made me feel that way because i have never been lied to like that growing up in the religion with it being all you know.

three weeks ago i had a middle ear infection.

i was all better but this morning woke up with a soar throat and runny nose.

Amazes me how elders act.....

most of you know that my husband (iron hill) and i have been trying to do the fade from the witnesses....here's the update!

my husband's ex wife who is disfellowshipped decides all of a sudden that she wants to get reinstated - i guess cuz we decided not to go anymore - and the guilt of their daughters dying in armageddon is killing her.

but anyway, she asked us if we would be ok with her coming and taking the girls to the meetings on the weekends that are ours.....my husband denied.

Hi LoriJis,

I am sorry to hear (but not surprised) at how these hypocrites have treated you and your husband. I can sympathise with your anger as I spent years being angry at the Elders in my ex-cong. Even by JW standards they have certainly acted outside the rules, but this seldom makes any difference in dub land.

I hope you can now move on and that the reality of being disassociated is actually a lot easier and more liberating than you thought it would be. You are certainly not alone and will always find supportive friends here on JWN. If you ever want to chat or just get things off your chest feel free to send me a PM.
