144001 you were at the wrong assembly
Cantleave I think this would have been more interesting:
was the major draw for you being able to wear a new dress?
or to put your kids in cute little outfits?
surely it wasn't the mind-numbing talks..

I loved dressing up for assemblies, but I certainly wasn't looking for a husband unless I could find a brother who wore make-up, had long hair and was a bit of a Goth (not very likely).
Yes some people went over the top and some outfits were just not practical or appropriate. June in the UK can range from being baking hot to very cold and wet. I have even known years where I was sat in the stands in a winter coat. So flimsy summer frocks are a bit risky, but many a year have I seen brave young sisters freeze to death in the hope of attracting a mate.
Then there's the shoe issue heels are a must, but stadiums are not designed for them. Heels get caught in rough tarmac and suddenly your shoe gets ripped off while you’re walking, much to everyone’s amusement. Not to mention the concrete steps, ooch!
Sometimes I miss the dressing up, but that's about all I ever do miss.
No, but they are appointed due to nepotism, arse licking and desperation.
last year i gave the memorial talk, this year for the first time in my entire life i won't even be going.. i guess that missing the memorial will definitely put us on the elder's radar, so i am expecting the elders to be concerned an interrogation.
.
i was going to use the excuse that i will be in a different part of country, but i won't be and i will be at work with at least 3 other jw's in a neighbouring congregation.. .
Good luck and if they ask why you didn't go tell them you were sick, sick of all their BS!
i always wanted a boat, but was told that if i had one i would never make another meeting.
guess i should go get a boat now..
My life back!
why women are crabby.
we started to 'bud' in our blouses at 9 or 10 years old only to find that anything that came in contact with those tender, blooming buds hurt so bad it brought us to tears.
so came the ridiculously uncomfortable training bra contraption that the boys in school would snap until we had calluses on our backs.. .
I got my flowers today so I don't feel so crabby any more.

Perhaps Spawn will read this, learn to appreciate what a fab woman I am and get round to sending me the dame flowers he promised me for mother’s day, but didn't send because he was sick.
reincarnation, literally "to be made flesh again", is the belief that the soul, after death of the body, comes back to earth in another body.
according to one belief, a new personality is developed during each life in the physical world, but the soul remains constant throughout the successive lives.[1].
belief in reincarnation has ancient roots.
Since energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be transformed from one state to another. In some respect the energy that exists within us will be transformed into another state once we die. Whether this corresponds to a soul or has a connection to our conscious mind we will all have to wait and see.
well, i knew it was only a matter of time before my parents confronted me on my "loss of spirituality" (their term).
i love them dearly and would rather cut off an arm than hurt them, so i was hoping (naively) that my so far successful fade might escape their notice.
we live about an hour apart so my lack of theocratic activity would go unnoticed.
Oh Cadellin I am sorry things have gone awry, my parents are also in their 70s too, but only my mum is a JW.
I hear the waiting on Jehovah comment on a regular basis plus the Jehovah will sort things out. The trouble is they really believe it and no amount of reasoning is going to make them change. Things will probably be a bit uncomfortable for a while, but we are all here for you.
information taken from the june 2010 awake.
my guesses for releases this year will be an update creation book and a book on jeremiah.
two books were released as recently as 2008 so i don't think this would be out of the question.. friday.
