Dear Serenity, I love your comments and was so sorry to read of your fathers abandonment.

I will never understand how any parent can willingly leave their children and make no effort to support or make sure they are ok. The problem is squarely in his court and though you will probably never get justice from the WTBS I hope that in some future time the universe will serve him the karma he deserves.

For you I hope for a bright happy future and know that you will always find support and true friends hear on JWN.

PRAYERS NEEDED!!

my mom just called and said my brother in law was found unconscious out in california.

he was on a business trip and was jogging which he does religiously every day.

the only id he had on him was his hotal key so they tracked him down.

Since God and I have issues we aren't currently on speaking terms, but you and your family are in my thoughts and I am willing your BIL a speedy recovery. Take heart he is in the best place and getting the care he needs.

How many of you were baptised at a young age?

one thing this site has made me reflect on the baptism practice in jw land.. many of us were raised in the religion, thus you were given the pressure early on to shoot for baptism as a goal.. i remember feeling bad because i waited until the ripe old age of 14 to take the plunge.. looking back, i realize that when i was 14, i didnt even know what my favorite color was, let alone have enough knowledge to make a life altering decision.

yet, growing up in that climate, i would say anyone who waited past their early teens to get baptised was viewed with great suspicion and was likely to be viewed as "bad association".

kids who took the dip at 8-9 years of age were viewed as "wise beyond their years" and the like.. how old were some of you when you were baptised, and what are your feelings on the matter?.

Even though I was born-in I wasn't baptised until my early 20's not really sure why I did, I think I just wanted to fit in and be accepted plus my best friend at the time was being baptised so it seemed like the thing to do. I was also a bit fed up with people using me as ministry time.

What would Jesus Christ say if he returned today?

this was always one of the main justifications for me in leaving the wt behind.

i was just wondering how many of you have ever reasoned in the same way.. i have often wondered how jesus christ would react if he came back to the earth now and how he would view the organisation who claim to represent his standards?.

would jesus really want to be associated with paedophilia, false prophecies, shunning, the destruction of families, lies, untruths, hypocritical leaders and the lack of love amongst members?.

jesus said his yoke was kindly and light.. dubs brag their religion is the "hardest religion in the world.".

the bible tells children to honor their parents.. the wts tells children to betray their parents.. if dubs really live in a "spiritual paradise," why do their lives have to be threatened to stay in it?.

Most Annoying Things That Happen At JW Meetings

today i was remembering how angry i used to get at the meetings and all the little irritations that in the end would just make my blood boil these included:.

prayers that go on foreverstudy or wt conductors still taking comments when its clear that the point has been covered 20 times alreadymeetings over running by more than 5 minsmy favourite was this one elder who would play guess the point i am thinking of.

he would keep rephrasing the question from the wt until someone would bring up the point he was thinking of.

Thanks guys for all your comments you made me smile, laugh and even feel a bit guilty for being sister judgmental in the past. It’s amazing how any organisation can make meetings both mind numbingly boring and incredibly irritating at the same time.

Thank the universe I will never have to waste a second of my life in JW meeting hell again.

Just thought of another one, having to sit on chairs that would qualify as a new form of torture.

Getting a numb bum is one thing but these chairs could create a whole new combination of numbness, back pain and pins and needles. It would get so uncomfortable that I would have to stand for part of the meeting much to brother attendant’s annoyance. Standing for the song would provide some relief, but then the prayer would go on so long I would think I was going to faint.

Once when I was a child I lost my balance during the prayer and fell into the seats in front, my mum was not amused ouch!!!!

JW's being asked not to marry?

ok another poster just went to the two day assembly and i just went to the one day special assembly day sunday.

at both of them it seems there was strong words against getting married.

they had on the stage a group of young men about three of them an older sister who is not that attractive but she is really nice, of course not brother would give her the time of day, and this older brother who is in his 60's and nice but very strange.. they all went on and on and on about not getting married.

This is just more sick life stealing false doctrine, not only can’t JWs lead a normal life, but now they must be single freaks on their own.

This won't help them build up more numbers, but numbers isn’t what they want. I think they just like to play with people and see what hoops they can make them jump through. It’s got to adapt or come to an end someday the WTBTS I mean after all you can't keep telling people the end is near for another hundred years or more.

So what does the future hold for JWs? Congs full of single freakish bachelors with no family or education. Trapped by poverty clinging to an impossible hope, because everything else has passed them by.

Of course there will always be those who say that’s nice and still carry on doing what they want because let’s face it they don’t really believe, but are happy to stay in.

What was the occasion?

Surely not a wedding anniversary maybe some poor kiddies baptism or someone devoting far too much of their lives in the pioneer work.
