Questions about Non JWs attending a JW baptism
by TTWSYF ini attended my brother and sister in laws' baptism at a kingdom hall a number of years ago.
i was [am] not a jw so when i arrived i was bombarded with attention from the flock to which i politely stated that i was there to see my brother and his wife.
it seemed like the distraction was intentional.

I find it a little unusual for a non-jw to know the baptism includes pledging allegiance to the borganization. How did you come to know that?I came to this knowledge here at this site on another thread about baptisms here and people wrote about how they were NOT baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Ghost.Instead baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and God's spirit directed organization. It is nothing less than amazing to me that people who claim to be bible readers and believers ever didn't wake up while reading what the bible REALLY says about so many of the WTS beliefs.A controlling cult to say the least....just saying -

PSALMS 83: 18 What is the name of God ?
by william draper inso many of us have been taught that the name of god is jehovah , if like me many have come to really appreciate god's name .. .
more accurately we , at least many or most love the name of jehovah , or more accurately should i say this pronunciation .
does god care what we call him , of course he does , he had his name written in the bible as yhwh ( best i can do on this computer ) , more than 6000 times .

Jesus said that no one knows the name of the father except the son and anyone whom the son reveals his name to.
The point I am trying to make is that Jesus would not reveal the Father's name to be broadcast to all everywhere. That would make Jesus a liar.
Also worth mentioning that there is only one name where salvation is found. It is a name above all others according to the bible. That name is JESUS
just reading it

My first "disagreement" with standard JW thinking
by TTATT_Paladin inabout two years after i was baptized, i had this incident.
i looked at it as an isolated incident at the time, but now realize it would have had basically the same result with 99.99% of any jws not members here.. i will keep it short.
i was talking with a person who was raised in the religion.

In the new system, there will be no more wedding rings. Wedding rings are 100% a pagan tradition not worthy of making the jump to the paradise on earth after God kills everyone else who's not JW.
NO PAGANISM ALLOWED

Xanthippe, Thanks for the correction on the right book and author. This is not the type of thing that can be proven as far as we know. There seems to be so much circumstantial proof to me. -

There is a doctor who had so many people having these NDE that he wrote a book. This is probably the closest thing that I know of that would be documented proof.
Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon's Journey into the Afterlife
There is also the Near Death Experiences Research Foundation that has many documented cases.Food for thought. Also worth mentioning that a number of Muslim NDEs report seeing Jesus in their vision.
Just saying that it is interesting reading.

Good questions that don't mention the WTS directly.
May work for a recent convert. but will not make a diff to any hardcore JW

This is a topic that I have researched about (on the internet) in the past. I disagree that it is a brain issue [either from dying or oxygen depravity]. Why I state that it is not in our head is because there have been numerous examples of people knowing what others were doing around or near them while they were unconscious or otherwise not privy to someone else's conversations or situations. Yet many of these people wake up knowing things that they could not have known.
I have read of people having these near death experiences being in hell or heaven or just with loved ones. The other thing that I have found is that many also state that their experience was very Christian oriented. Meaning that they were aware of a savior that most agreed [no matter what their faith] that this savior was a Christ like figure.
That said, I think it is entirely possible that many of these people are full of it. Anyone could say "I saw a light and felt loved and etcetc'
Just my humble opinion

Sick to my stomach
by Ghiagirl inwho do these people think they are!
?i have only been on this site for a couple months, and dealing with all the reactions of jws to my being removed as a publisher(for the second time) and my husband being df'd.
lucky for me i have 2 sets of grandparents that still support my life whatever i do as well as some aunts uncles and cousins.

Ghiagirl I'm so sorry to hear of the trials that you and your husband are going thru. I admire your strength to do the right thing for your child.
Sick to your stomach? Absolutely!
I'm not a JW, but my brother and his family are; and I worry about his grandchildren now and how they won't have a chance at a productive life. Just all waiting for God's judgement. What an awful existence.
You MUST do something to change that course and you have. I'm so sorry that it comes with these conditions, but you are doing what is true and right imho.

Thanks One Eye and Confuzzle. I guess I have become a bit cynical against the WTS on ALL matters. I wonder why....ok, no I don't
