J.W's and " but that is Pagan !".
by Phizzy inthere have been a number of threads touching on this before, leolaia for one, back in the day when we had many an erudite poster, showed the pagan origins of many things, including the passover , and by extension, the jw " memorial".. what prompted my thought on this was a conversation i had the other day with a young lady, never a jw, who said the jw stance on birthday celebrations, was groundless and cruel.. i thought later that jw's do a " pick and mix " as usual, as they do with so many other things, on what they condemn as "pagan" and what they accept and practice.. the institution of marriage itself is pagan, marriages were performed long before the bible was written, and long before the nation of israel was formed.
yet jw's perform marriages, use the veil, and the ring, all pagan.
the names of the days of the week, the months of the year, all pagan.. i guess you guys can think of many more things ?

If you think rationally about it, it would seem that
Paganism is impossible to avoid because each society has a local culture that it projects based on what people have latched onto as far as available spices and food, housing design, comfortable and functional clothing, recreational activities and such.
I would argue that it is paganism wearing a suit and tie with laced up matching shoes. Dressing in early 20th century American attire and then going door to door projecting that image in all gatherings [worship?] and recruitment efforts.
What if the culture in another land wears loafers, wooden shoes, sandals, boots or whatever? Judged pagan?
How about wearing anything else? If you have ever gotten corrected of your attire, it's probably because of pagan/cultural norms of the JW society.

'Lying for the Truth' AKA Theocratic Warfare
Awful that the WTS uses Lying for the Truth [aka theocratic warfare] on its' own members as well as new recruits or critics.

Expectation- Pastor Russell restored the lost and true faith from the earliest Christian beliefs and traditions.
Reality- Just another one of 40,000 Christian sects started by some guy or gal that is just as corrupted as the other 39,999

Smitty3 Because the Jehovah`s Witness religion offers absolutely no help whatsoever of a practical nature to any of their members young or old.
That's why there are no fruits from the WTS. You could never get good fruit from an org that promotes lying. Lying not only to possible critics, but lying to it's own members for recruitment and retention. No fruits what so ever, yet people remain. Quite perplexing,,,,,

Was Mary Magdalene an apostle?
by neat blue dog inthe new article about mary magdalene says:.
the catholic church calls mary .
“the apostle of the apostles” because she was the first to bring news of jesus’ resurrection to the apostles.

Never was Mary M or any other Mary or any woman an apostle...No offense, it just didn't happen that way.
Women have a huge role in Christianity, but priesthood isn't part of it, ..historically speaking anyway

Should you believe in the trinity was a booklet that sounded very scholarly.....
instead, it was so dishonest that it was pulled out of circulation and you hear nothing of it anymore.

How Do JWs View The Bible?
by Vanderhoven7 inhere are some questions to ask visiting jws to help them realize their faith is not in the bible, but in men.. questions about how you view the bible.. 1. do you view the bible as the inspired word of god?
(ii tim.3:16).
2. do you believe the bible is written for everyone?

To me, the WTS interpretation of the scriptures is a very fluid thing. Every new group of leaders have their own ideas of what the scriptures say. Nothing is set in stone, everything can be changed. Depends on who's in charge. That is the main reason that old Watchtower and Awake mags could be considered apostate materials.
That is the Truth according to my research.
