How do JWs know that less than 150,000 Christians existed before the 20th Century?
by Vanderhoven7 inaccording to watchtower, only anointed christians existed between the first and 20th centuries.
the great crowd of other sheep only began forming after the 20th century started.. how do they support this conclusion?

Early Christians were made up of Jews, who had their own variations in sects of paganism infused Judaism. And they added pagans. Everyone else that wasn’t a Jew, was a pagan, and you can’t help but to bring that influence in. Plato, Aristotle? Those guys Had some very rich writing and opinions. It would be a loss not to be familiar with their writings, wouldn’t it?

You can use the bible to prove whatever you want regarding
Cofty, that is so true. You and I can read the same scripture and get divergent opinions on its meaning/translation/impact. And isn’t that the major problem? YES. How do we know what’s right or wrong in translation?
Wouldn’t you go to the source? The Bible is a Catholic book, it’s not a Presbyterian book or an Anglican book or even a Watchtower book. It’s a Catholic book. Yet, in spite of this obvious fact, many people look to other sources for authority. Where or who gives this authority? It’s their book and they know what it means more than some ‘new apostle’. That’s why 40,000- Christian denominations have divergent interpretations on what’s dogma (must be believed) as opposed to doctrines (which you can have divergent opinions)
40,000 + forms of Chrisianity started by a man or woman compared to one religion started by Jesus Christ himself.
WHO HAS THE AUTHORITY?!?!?
Ask yourself

If Jesus is the word of Almighty God, then Almighty God speaks and his word ‘binds all things’ then isn’t that actually God himself?
God has no legs or arms to build or create, he just speaks and his word carries ALL of his authority.
Honor the son same as the father.
that’s pretty bluntly spoken divinity, isn’t it?

Words from one language to another, aren’t always accurately portrayed. Some languages have words that other languages don’t. There are several examples in the Bible, where people wanted to kill Jesus for blasphemy. The words may not equate to blasphemy in translation to English, but the Jews around Jesus, knew exactly what he said. He claim to be God. That’s why they wanted to kill him for a blasphemy. That’s what blasphemy is, a claim to divinity.

If Jesus isn't the one true god, how do we interpret the passages where he might have insinuated this? If he claimed it, how do we account for the inaccuracy of the claim?
Maybe he was just nuts
Only one of 3 possibilities of Jesus Christ
1] He's nuts
2] He's a liar
3] He's who he claimed to be [God's word with all the authority of HIS father]

Are JWs forgetting Jesus altogether?
by KerryKing ina relative sent me yesterday's wt study article 46, how jehovah guarantees his promise of paradise.. it's been a long time since i read one of those articles but what really struck me about this one is that, considering it's discussing a fundamental jw belief, it only mentions jesus twice as an aside, and not at all as the central figure like the bible does.
it actually mentions satan far more in the same article!.
i don't remember this discrepancy from my time in the org 15 years ago.

I always thought it quite odd that JWs promote themselves as [the only true] Christians but without Christ. Only a passing mention. Like HE'S not worthy of the attention and respect. Maybe I've got it wrong.

God cannot lie
by psyco inthe bible does not say that god does not want to lie, but that he cannot lie or it is impossible for god to lie.
.
so, if god cannot lie, for what purpose and why did he create creatures (satan, demons, humans) who can lie?.

God (of course), knew about the fall of mankind and allowed it. Just as he knew about the fall of angels and allowed it. Free will AND, to bring a greater good from it. What the greater good is? I don’t know, but I do have faith that my master is good.ttwsyf
