Difficulty: Moderately Challenging Instructions

Step 1
Open the door when the Jehovah's Witnesses (JW) come to call. Be friendly, interested and enthusiastic. Accept the literature and promise to read it.
Step 2
Invite the JW in when they return. Make sure that everyone is comfortable. Put on a pot of coffee. Discuss the literature at length and invite the JW for another visit.
Step 3
Agree to host a Bible study. Study "Watchtower" publications. Devote two to three hours each week studying chapters of Let God Be True. Become known in the organization as a Bible student.
Step 4
Get invited to the neighborhood book study and introduced to other JW members. Experience a broader group of like-minded individuals. Accept encouragement to study more.
Step 5
Accept an invitation to visit Kingdom Hall on Sunday. Listen attentively to the lectures. Attend ministry school and service meetings to receive advanced training in the Scriptures.
Step 6
Train to be a witness for Jehovah and how to answer objections from non-believers. Be baptized as a JW by being immersed in water.
Step 7
Agree to accept all direction given by the organization. Start knocking on doors and witnessing for Jehovah. Lead others to salvation.

JW Tall Tales

recently i was cleaning my bookcase and found an old book that i enjoyed as a child.

it had stories in it such as paul bunyan, pecos bill, and john henry.

while these stories are fictional, i enjoyed them because they were entertaining, and easy to understand.. fast forward to the late 70's when i was a teenager sitting at the ca hall in janesville wisconsin.. the speaker was explaining the great sacrifice god made in sending his son down to earth to die for all mankind.

The one even I know ... the best story of them all ... Paradise. I have that picture of the smiling people surrounded by God's bounty burned into my head. Pet lions ... sigggghhhhh ... almost as good as a high quality shot of heroin to a junkie.

Does anybody else feel relieved that they won't be tortured during the great tribulation?

i grew up hearing about different ways people have been tortured in the past and was always scared of going through that during the gt.

it was always an unhealthy obsession of mine.

i always thought that i was more worried about it than other jws and that i would end up renouncing my faith to get out of it.

There's a lot of torture that goes on that has nothing to do with the tribulation ... unless Dick Cheney knows more about the end of times than I suspect.

i have a question regarding creation thats burning me.

i dont have any clever arguments depending on what is answered, i am just curious.. first off i want to say that i think people are free to believe whatever they want.

Any of you who are stating that various terms mean "different things to different people" are avoiding and skirting around the fact that these, and other scientific terms, means SPECIFIC things to people who understand them, and anyone who thinks they mean something else is WRONG. "Species" does not mean "a group". "Evolution" does not mean "one animal turning into another".

Words are only useful if they convey meaning. If every word is a wildcard, then we're all just jabbering about nothing.
