  I just watched it. Really good, but I would not let anyone under 30 watch it. Its style -- the sound effects and creepy music, let alone the dated hair styles and all that, would really put off the youngins nowadays and may even have an opposite than intended effect.

They could simply hire a few spin doctors and publicity consultants (you know, the ones who make dog killing football players look like ASPCA volunteers and child-molesting pop superstarts look like victims of a cruel word of lies), and people would be lining up to join.

  I just heard they're expecting a 3 foot surge at La Jolla around noon (an hour from now) and then similar up the coast as the day goes on. Since most of this area faces the water with several hundred foot tall cliffs, I can't imagine anything too interesting happening around here. I hope the rest of the Pacific makes it through ok. At least we have the warnings this time.

  the talk outlines for the summers conventions are only being printed over the next 2 weeks or so.. the finished outlines were ready in the middle of december 2009, however sources that i trust tell me that at least 5 of the talks were returned for last minute rewriting which is highly unusual.

  this has held up the printing until now, a delay of over a month.

  this is a fact!!.

  I Went Back To the Kingdom Hall

  last year i went back to the hall while even though i was disfellowsipped 9 years ago and never intend to get reinstated.

  i went back to talk to all my friends and relatives and blantantly ignore the disfellowshipping policy.

  i chose to go to my jw parents hall where they are in "good standing" and regularly attend meetings as they ingnore their son.

  I like it - a lot. I don't know if this will be perceived as the compliment it is, but it reminds me of the style of some of the classic Southern writers of the 20th century. Tennessee Williams, Flannery O'Connor, many others. One of my very favorite literary movements, all told.
