Are you going back in the org. or serve God in your own way? Just asking; I didn't get it from your post.

Going Back for the Right Reasons
by startingover13 ini'm new to this site, but i have been following the topics for some time.
initially, it was during a deep search into the history of jehovah's witnesses, and yes, "apostate" sites.
i was born into the organization in 1989. my father was always more inclined to the organization than my mother, and soon after she was df'ed.

So, I got this D2D visit and I made them start disagreeing between them in front of my eyes
by BluePill2 inususally i wouldn't come here to announce that two dudes in polyester suits with cheap ties wanted to convert me.
i am long past that "excitement", been out for a couple of years now.
this was the first time they rang my door bell.

So what if they were wrong?
by DS211 inthis is a reply ireceived from a poster on another forum.
"actually the vast majority of interpretations of prophecy are absolutely spot on.. .
people harp on over this and that that was wrong 50 years ago, but today jehovah's witnesses have all the bible's prophecies pretty much figured out in their entirety.. .

"Actually the vast majority of interpretations of prophecy are absolutely spot on." - Yeah, but the spots are changing time and again.

I love European and Christian history, Christian theology, Western philosophy, World travel, Cookbooks, Gardening. I hate Fiction, to me it seems like a waste of time.
Right now I'm reading "The First Thousand Years - a global history of Christianity" by R.L.Wilken. It's an eye opener. Nothing like the sanitized Christian history that JWs teach (like first Christians were all believing the same things, or there was a centralized GB, or they all went H-t-H, or that they partook only once a year on Nisan 14).

Maintaining Faith In God As An Ex-JW
by pronomono inas i fade further from the jws, i'm finding it increasingly hard to maintain faith in god.
i've been exploring many alternatives from atheism, agnostic, apathetic, pagan, and satanism (not devil worship, but the promotion of self-indulgence) to name a few.
i'm thoroughly intrigued to learn how those of you who remained christian managed to maintain your faith in god and christ, especially after enduring all the lies that we've been told about them.

Pronomono - I find it very hard to believe in most of things that people say about God. But, by choice not faith, I continue as a Christian. I like majority of Jesus's sayings about life (morality, virtues, love, charity...) I go to a church almost every Sunday and do my best to live up to the Christian standards. It partially satisfies my spiritual needs, gives me a measure of peace, and makes me a better person. I understand that we (humans) don't have all the answers, and even though I don't like it, I accept it (I really have no choice, beacause only JW's have all the answers, and I'm no longer one of them )

KateWild - I was disappointed by your comment. I thought, that as a person who experiences discrimination, you would have more understanding for people who are not exactly the same as you are (just to be clear - here I mean people who believe in God and/or respect the Bible).

cofty - There is a reason, why I din't give any specific examples. But think about it and I'm sure you'll figure out which book I had in mind.

Cofty - I'm pretty sure I didn't mention Islam in my comment. And when I said rasist I wasn't thinking of Quran.
KS - I didn't insist that the Bible should be filed under the label History. Usually it is under Religion or Philosophy. Actually even witchcraft is often under Religion and not Fiction.
Hey, guys, you are all invited to your own opinion. I just felt, that Fiction label is neather accurate nor considerate. Period.

I never said it was a 100% factual history, and I never said that it was a good thing, but everytime I check why people say things and believe things, symbols they use, laws they have, their habits, their holidays, their customs, and so on; it always goes back to judeo-christian believe system or a reaction to it (last few centuries), or to ancient greek phylosophy. And I'm still talking just about the western world.
Furthermore nobody would dare to do it to any other holy book, because that would be rasist, or even dangerous (their stores would get threatened or worst).

Political correctness. What is it to you?
by Hortenzie ini see it as a form of discrimination against non mainstream ideas and opinions.
that's why i don't understand why so many hold it as of a great value.
what do you think?.
-
Hortenzie
tornapart - yes, balance is what is sorely missing. And commom sense and discernment. That is the point I was trying to make about political correctness.
