Honesty - I don't think I want to sue them. I might just call them up and ask for it. I want to stress to them that they always think they are the righteous ones so they should do the right thing and give me my money back. I also want to inform them that they are NOT a beneficiary on my life insurance any longer.

Question to atheists: if there is no creator/god---
by prologos inif you are sure there is no god, do you then believe that we,our minds, are the highest intelligence?
not just of the universe, but the cosmos?.

This one at least makes me laugh: " I was an atheist until I realized I was god."

Problemaddict - If they told me the truth about the organization I would not give them my money. If I knew that they vote to make decisions and it is not the holy spirit who leads them as they claim, that would be a start. I have no personal experience of god and I had to take their word for it. Yes, that possibly makes me stupid but they lied, knowingly and willfuly.

Aunt Fancy - I feel for you...
I just found out that the donations I can prove add up to $4 080. That's for the last 4 years. I didn't claim it on the Income tax before that...

Yeah, I wan't 15 years of my life back or equivalent in money, but that's not gonna happen. The income tax receipts are the only tangible evidence. And the fact that they took my money and then DFed me. I was wondering what would happen if I called them and just asked for it.
NathanN - Why are you so negative? Did you tried to get your money back or you're jumping to conclusion?
Blondie thanks, I'll check the links. I might also try to contact a lawyer, sometime they give you 1/2 hour consultation for free...

If you wrote book about JW's what title would you give it?
by LogCon inmany, after leaving or being cast out of 'the society,' have felt so strongly so as to write a book.

I like your question. I spent a few minutes thinking about it. I think I would like to write about the struggle of deprogramming myself from JW mindset to an ordinary mortal human being mindset and about the hurdles (in my mind) I had to overcome on the way. The title: 'Becoming human', 'Human again' or something like that.

by WingCommander inso i found this video on youtube.
apparently a loyal jw put it together as a kind of "video tour" to show their friends, etc.
i don't know what's worse, the creepy music (is this what we've been hearing about?

Active JW's, can you defend "THE TRUTH?"
by DATA-DOG inas of yet, no member of the jehovah's witness faith can defend their unique beliefs.
when the dust settles, it all comes down to blind faith in men's ever-changing ideas.
this "unique belief" was not a "true teaching of the bible.

Which TRUTH do you have in mind? There had been so many changes over the short history of JWs that you need to specify your question!

"Holy cult hypocrisy, Batman!": Wow! I just have to share TheUnwitness' call to WT HQ!

Desiriousofchange - I called Canadian HQ 2-3 weeks ago. They accepted my call, the man (no more brother) wanted me to go to the local elders, I said I haven't been at the meetings for a while, I just needed a simple yes or no to the question if JWs use the baptismal formula (I thought they do because I remember studying WT about what it means to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and HS). He tried to avoid to answer but finally said a "no" and abruptly ended the call...
JW are very inconsistent in following their own rules. I remember when they were talking so much against the Internet (mid. 1990s) that we all were under the impression that they will never use it and look now, how everything changed...
