  Did you ever do something for this religion that now makes you shudder ?

  back in the early 80's right after i was married the main driving point i kept hearing at the meetings was "do more,,, pioneer ".. well being the young impressionable jw couple that we were, .

  my wife is a speech therapist, so working pt was no problem, but i ended up working construction, cleaning carpets, and shoveling snow at all hours with the brothers, and i worked like a d*** fool at all hours.. funny how there was so much support for me to work with the witnesses, but once the decision was made work could be very iffy at times.. and the main thing that just causes me to cringe now is how so many of the witnesses in charge of the congregation thought that we did not need insurance, my wife had a policy with her school district, but my son and i did not.

  granted medical expenses were not as bad then, but just the idea of thinking that we did not need it that god would watch over us just embarasses me to no end now.

  A Sincere Question...

  to the household of god, israel, and those who go with... may you have peace!.

  i have a very sincere question to ask because of some recent comments i've received regarding postings on the board.

  the subject is on my mind... and heart... because of two similar incidents that occurred in my life since my journey began, which i would like to relate to you.

  Yes I agree with watersprout, I love learning and enjoy the conversations and discussions of people and picking up on their knowledge, tips and if I don't understand or know I ask them, and they love explaining what they know. Broadening our knowledge is the spice of life. I loved going back to college it made me work hard as I don't have a great memory but now I am finding it easier.

  Also I think it is polite in company to talk about things others want to talk about and to share conversation being aware we could be leaving someone out. I try to adapt to who I am with and not make them feel uncomfortable, this has helped me broaden my friends and acquaintances.

  to cut very long story short , my inlaws have not seen my child for 18months we left the area they live 2 years ago after a ex min servant was sent to prison for abusing kids including my eldest child , understandably i wanted a fresh start !

  today my jw motherinlaw tried to give her disfellowshipped son ten pounds for our child (her granchild she hasnt seen for 18 months ) he asked her why ?

  she told him i told her it was best if they didnt see our child anymore just before i left town (half hour drive away from our new home ) this is not true at all !

  LooLoo I am sorry you are so upset, don't let them take away your peace, you have your little family you are together, don't let them take your happiness away from you. Put all your energy hopes and dreams to your family. Let everyone see that you are happy being angry you will only hurt yourself. Don't let the org. split your family, let the grandparents see that you are happy, and continue to let them know that you want them to see their grandchild, your daughter could write a card to them telling them she would love to see them.

  Turn the situation around. I will be praying for you and your family, you can pm me or phone me any time.

  I have often watched American shows and people are eating a meal they pass round a plate of what they call biscuits, they eat them with the meal and look like scones. Can anyone tell me what they are, and what they are made of, are they like yorshire puddings or very different ?

  mmmmmmmmmm scotch eggs one of my favourate ways to have egg, I am going to get some tommorow.

  I also love soft boiled eggs with soldiers [toast cut into strips] oozing with real butter. and dipping them into the egg yummy, yummy, yummy. this is going to be egg week.

  I never get fed up with eggs.

  FRIED EGGS, BACON, SAUSAGES [with herbs and spices even better], FRIED TOMS, MUSHROOMS, HASH BROWNS, FRIED BREAD [if you really want to be wicked], or POTATO WAFFLES, or BREAD AND REAL BUTTER [not nasty margarine] and a POT OF TEA [PG tips] lovely and strong. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm yum yum yum and I like my tea out of a china cup.

  i used to wonder, how people in "the truth" could do and say hurtful things.

  how could certain people be appointed elders?

  they were just kiss-asses or yes men.

  Hi Red Piller I agree with Loz compassion and lots of it is needed on our journey out. When hubby and I were in we could never understand how the elders would keep attending these large EL and MS meetings and come back and be more judgemental and self Arighteous each time. Treat the flock with no tenderness but harsheness instead.

  Until hubby became appointed and attended one it all slotted into place he realised this is what they encourage and promote. Expressions such as [brothers are not worth their salt] blah blah. They instill a judgemental attitude within them, what a wake up call.

  Who said being a christian was easy, JESUS certainly didn't, but treating people as CHRIST would do is a world away from what the WT.org teaches. On the surface the wt. may at times appear to talk the talk,but seldoms walk the walk, and when the info get filtered down to the shop floor to the rank and file , well say no more! ' BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE THIS ATTITUDE COMES RIGHT FROM THE TOP' from the GB to the writing commitee downwards. This is not what Christianity is all about and was one of many many issues and concerns why we eventually walked away.

' MTT 23 v 13-15 NWT. If you follow the watchtower you will be in a world of hurt follow Christs teachings and not mens and you will be set free and you will find the strenghth to get out.

  Legalistic religions such as JW's, Mormons, Scientologists and other similar cults always promote a distorted reward system and a consequence of failure a million miles away from true Christianity. Legalistic cults that rely on policies and procedures rather than Christian freedom which just enslaves people and go into a form of sleeping sickness where they can no longer think for themselves in fear of retribution.

  A Scripture the watchtower never like to use in connection with the 'rank and file' is Romans 8 v 1 'Therefore those in union with Christ Jesus have no condemnation.' NWT. So what they are actually saying is 'you have no part with Christ' , 'This Scripture does not apply to you' , 'Christ is not your mediator', and that is why they need policies and procedures to keep you under control.

  1Tim 2 v 5 'There is one God and one mediator between God and men the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all men.' NIV

  All people that Christ identifies as Christians today are in the new covenant as the Jews were in the old covenant. Ex 34 v 27 NIV

  Keep reading the Bible and ask for Gods Spirit and let his word speak to you, you do not have to go through and organisation or men, the GB are not moses or Christ.
