  Sueing the WTBTS

  does anyone know --- has anyone ever successfully sued the wtbts after being disfellowshipped and losing the natural affections of their family, as per wtbts directions to 'shun'?

  i guess it would be 'alienation of affection' or something else... i don't know.

  i'm lucky to have had no family members in the cult - but i've read horrendous stories of the effects disfellowshipping has had on others - lives effectively ruined by losing mates, children, parents, friends, jobs, homes... suicides, murder/suicide - all devestating results of the cult's edicts.

  during a recent special day assembly program, ted said that woman in a physically abusive marriage should submit to her husband so that eventually her husbands may respond to their submission and come to worship god.

  my family was completely shocked.

  can you imagine the culpability and responsibility of this man who claims to speak for the christ to encourage women to get beat up as way to encourage their abusive husbands to come into the truth.

  Ynot, I really don't care. I don't see color, race, culture, etc. as issues. What I think Chris Rock was pointing out is how you get treated in this country based on appearance, from any side. I personally could'nt care less what anyone's race, gender, preference is. It's how you treat people.

  I Retract My Statements

  in the recent past, i started a thread on how i can't stand teenagers.. something has happened to make me ashamed of those statements.. my daughter informed me that her 15-year old daughter stayed on the phone all night with a friend because her friend was afraid to go to sleep.. the friend's dad had to leave around midnight to go out of town to work.

  the child called my g'daughter and asked her to stay on the phone with her because she was home alone and afraid.. my g'daughter propped herself up in bed with her ipod and a cup of tea and talked to her friend until dawn began to break.

  now, that is real friendship.. i just wanted to share this.. sylvia.

  worked nightshift so woke at 2pm and went out to buy some beer and scotch and a cigar to smoke for the first time!

  realized my wife had taken my credit card so went home...didn't have time to buy a cigar..damn!

  6.30pm had a polish beer and started the barbie.

  Yep. Sick as a dog. Was supposed to go to a reunion of sorts w/ my 80's friends and a hot XJW date. Too sick. So, watched the ball drop w/ 6 yr. old lil' one (eastern time, it's not NYE here yet) She's asleep and I'm watching the terminator.

  does anyone else feel a large gaping void in their life tonight now that the book study has been abandoned?

  i mean i hardly ever go to the meetings these days but i still like the feeling that they are there even if i am not physically present.

  tuesday without a meeting is just weird.. .

  I filled it w/ playing monopoly w/ my daughter. And then reading "Charlotte's web". Far more intriguing than the revalation book, or the James book, or any of the other horseshit. Frankly, I haven't really worried about bookstudy, or thought about it in anyway, other than the excellent tea and bearclaws my grandparents served in the 1970's or the biscuits and gravy we'd get at the local coffeeshop in the late 80's afterwards. Otherwise? Bookstudy somehow longer and more boring than the 2 hour meetings. Closer settings. More JW's close to shussh or whack the crap outta you if you moved/laughed/goofed on anything. Bookstudy? Go Eff yourself, and RIP
